In 1940, Masaaki Takaoka works as a teacher in the agricultural division at a youth training institute. Although Japan’s defeat seems imminent, all of Masaaki’s students are drafted in a futile last-ditch effort. In an attempt to give the young men some hope, he makes everyone promise that they will all meet again under the cherry blossoms upon their safe return. Consumed by sadness over the fate of his students, Masaaki devotes the next 30 years of his life to develop a new species of cherry blossoms that could thrive in any climate in remembrance of his students.
어느 날, 버려진 건물에서 등이 흉기에 찔려 사망한 남성의 시체가 발견된다. 그 사건을 조사하던 사사가키 형사는 피해자의 아들 키리하라 료지와 용의자의 딸 니시모토 유키호로부터 왠지 모를 이상한 감정을 느낀다. 하지만 사건은 용의자들의 사망으로 종결되고 사사가키는 찜찜함과 갑갑함을 남긴 채 홀로 사건 수사를 이어나간다. 그리고 세월이 흘러, 료지는 종적을 감추고 유키호는 친척 집에 입양되어 요조숙녀로 성장한다. 그러나 유키호의 주변에서는 범인을 알 수 없는 끔찍한 사건들이 연이어 일어난다. 지옥 속에서 만난 두 어린 영혼에게 그날 벌어진 사건의 진상은 무엇일까? 불행한 과거를 딛고 사회에서 성공한 소녀와 그런 소녀를 위하여 지금도 깜깜한 어둠 속에서 손을 더럽히는 소년. 그리고 오랜 시간을 들여 그들의 진실에 다가가는 한 애틋한 부정애를 품은 형사의 이야기.
코바야시 타키지의 동명 원작소설을 영화화한 작품. 게를 잡아 가공해서 통조림으로 생산해내는 해공선에서 벌어지는 노동력 착취에 분노한 노동자들의 투쟁을 그린 영화.

She's tantalizing. Spellbinding. Irresistible. And yet freelance photographer Uemura fights his attraction for the beautiful Mari with all his might. For not only is she the wife of the prominent head of a prestigious hospital, but all of those who've previously had affairs with this sensual succubus seem to have expired prematurely. It's a losing battle, however, and Uemura soon finds himself pulled into the arms of the voluptuous Mari and the jaws of a trap designed to suck men dry and spit out the husks. For it seems that Mari's husband, Ginjiro, is all too aware of who's been sleeping in his wife's bed, and the sexual predation that follows will pull Uemura into a world of bondage and depravity.
