1943년, 체코의 한 아름답고 평화로운 마을에 사는 조셉과 마리 부부. 행복하기 그지 없는 이들 부부에게 한 가지 아쉬움이 있다면 조셉이 불임이어서 아이가 없다는 것이다. 그러던 어느날, 다비드라는 이름의 유태인 청년이 부부의 빈방으로 숨어들면서 전쟁이 시작된다. 소심한 조셉에겐 감당하기 어려운 사건이었지만, 겁에 질려 큰 눈을 껌벅이는 청년을 외면할 수 없었다. 이제 이들 부부에게는 히틀러 모습의 나치 끄나풀인 호스트가 경계 대상 1호가 된다. 사실 조셉은 눈치를 못 채고 있지만 마리를 짝사랑하던 호스트가 시도 때도 없이 부부의 집을 방문하곤 했던 것. 그를 막지 못하면 유태인 청년과 마을 전체가 학살당할 위험에 처하게 되는데...

첼리스트 루카. 한때 교향악단에서 환호성과 박수갈채 속에 파묻혀 지냈지만 지금은 장례식 연주와 묘비명에 페인트칠하는 변변치 못한 소일거리로 생계를 연명한다. 독신이지만 그에게는 항상 여자가 있다. 냉소적이며 자유주의자인 그도 고독을 쉽게 피해갈 수는 없다. 친구가 묘한 제안을 해왔다. 한 여자와의 계약 결혼. 그녀가 영주권을 얻을 때까지만 부부처럼 지내면 된다고 한다. 처음엔 거절했지만 두둑한 돈봉투의 유혹을 뿌리칠 수 없다. 그 돈이면 무거운 첼로를 싣고 다닐 수 있는 중고차 한 대쯤살 수 있으리라. 루카에게 난처한 일이 생겼다. 계약결혼한 여자가 다섯 살바기 코흘리개 아들을 남겨두고 애인을 찾아 독일로 망명해 버린 것. 꼬마 콜리야는 할머니 집에 맡겨졌으나 그 할머니마저 노환으로 몸져 누워버려 어쩔 수 없이 법적인 아빠 - 루카에게 온 것이다. 처음엔 계속 훌쩍거리기만 하는 아이가 왜그리 귀찮은지. 콜리야는 어느새 루카의 전부가 되었다. 자전거도 타고, 사진도 찍고, 캠핑도가고, 만화영화도 같이보고. 코흘리개 루카를 아빠라고 부른다. 하지만 만남은 언제나 이별을 준비하는 법. 둘만의 행복한 시간을 보내던 콜리야와 루카는 서독에서 온 엄마의 방문을 받는다.

The seat position shows that she cannot have been driving, and the dissection proves that she had died about four hours after the accident. It is for sure that a timely medical assistance could have saved her life. A pretty young tennis player Lucie lived at her grandmother, because her parents had been working abroad. Criminalists found out that the girl was going out with the interpreter Valenta (Eduard Cupák), who was twenty years older than her, divorced and a bit egoistic man.

Good-looking Edita Beningerová (Jana Brejchová) arrives at a chemical factory in the North Bohemian town of Ústí nad Labem together with her young assistant Nada (Zlata Adamovská). She is hoping that her ex-husband, outstanding practical chemical engineer Vik Panc (Eduard Cupák), will help her conduct an experiment to validate her proposed theoretical method of isolating cholesterol from lanolin. The success of Edita's invention is crucial for her career at the Prague Institute of Chemistry. Vik's roommate from his hostel Bréta (Ivan Vyskocil) is thrilled. He will finally meet the mysterious and fascinating Edita about whom he has learned so much from Vik.

A group of children are investigating a chain of mysterious events during the seventies.

Honza Pavelka (Jan Hrusínský) wins the junior motorbike speed races. His thirteen-year-old brother Martin (Roman Cada), his assistant and biggest fan, answers the questions of his schoolfriend Pavlína in a superior tone. Student Zuzana (Libuse Safránková), who gave her scarf to Honza to wear around his neck for the races as a talisman is Honza's girlfriend. He met her when he came to her parent's home to repair the TV set. Honza declines an invitation to celebration with his friends. He goes off with Zuzana instead, but she refuses his intimate advances. The offended young man, who is about to serve his two years in the army, tries to blackmail her emotionally and the couple breaks up. Martin tries various schemes to bring them together again.

A man and a woman from a different planet come to the Earth to get a cure for a disease that is apparently threatening to eradicate their civilisation.

After returning home from the army, Vasek (Ladislav Potmesil) has married Bozka (Eva Trejtnarová) and the couple now live at her parents' house. Vasek is unhappy both with his work and with sharing the house with Bozka's parents. He and his friend Ruda (Oldrich Vlach) decide to take a temporary job in Ostrava for a year. Bozka is against this, but Vasek gets his way. Mining is hard work but Vasek gradually adapts to it. He gets homesick from time to time and wants to go back, but his pride always wins out. Once he really does travel back to see Bozka, but he doesn't find her at home.

The year is 1943. The war is raging between the Germans and the Allies in North Africa. A truck with a Czech crew, Lieutenant Navara and six soldiers, escapes from the Foreign Legion fortress. Their aim is to reach the Allies and fight against Nazism. The truck is destroyed by a German army plane, which is hit by enemy fire in its turn. One Czech soldier dies in the attack, the driver is badly wounded, and Navara has serious burns on his face. The group has very little water and must reach an oasis that is 60 km away.

This film brings us back to show us the life of the famous ancient sage Aesop, who helped people with his wisdom in their struggle for freedom and happiness.

The drama offers Arnošt Pánek, chairman of the National Committee, as the protagonist of the story. Pánek is disturbed by news of the arrest of his protégé Kvasil – chairman of a JZD agricultural cooperative in the nearby village of Spádová. He is responsible for the revival of a neglected village, but is now accused of theft, fraud, and – on top of that – the rape of an under-aged girl.

The invincible agent Cyril Juan Borguette alias W4C has been assigned a mission to go to a hotel in Prague, get hold of a saltcellar with a plan for the military exploitation of Venus hidden in it, and hand it over to the beautiful agent Alice. He will have to compete for the saltcellar with other agents working for the world's various greater and smaller powers. The head of the Prague counter-intelligence unit gets news of agent W4C's mission. Deficient in personnel, he nominates accountant Foustka as agent 13B. Mr Foustka takes his dog Pajda with him and the two head for the airport. Pajda helps him track down agent W4C in a classy hotel that becomes the battleground for the interests and plans of the secret agents from different countries, each trying to get hold of the precious saltcellar.

The Karpísek married couple, both doctors, are leaving for London for two months on business. They entrust their five-year old son Jozánek to the care of their neighbor, Mrs Pokorná.

Even in the "enlightened" 60. years filmmakers like to play spies. In the grand-world environment, Luxury hotel in Karlovy Vary the sophisticated charade unfolds, in which several foreign agents interested in the famous Austrian scientist, the discoverer of the artificial protein. Endangered man fortunately never notice danger around him. His protection was entrusted to the mysterious madame Elizabeth, amongst agents famed as the ' 006, in fact, working for the State security... As a parody, perhaps the movie succeeded, but hardly convincing anyone - and this is despite scriptwriting participation of the renowned Jan Procházka.

The film goes beyond the themes of war and anti-Nazism and concerns itself with man's struggle to preserve human dignity.

During his work assignment in Tamani Kingdom, Czech worker Lojza saves a local man from dying in the desert. Two years later, it turns out the saved man was also the Taman king; and he has decided to name Lojza, a communist, his royal heir.
