A story of a successful businessman who falls in love with a silent movies actress and starts to look everywhere for a woman who looks exactly like her.

A comedy set in Ashdod, Israel. Grisha, has almost given up on his dream of opening his own restaurant and serving his specialty dishes. The sudden death of a rich uncle in Russia changes all that. The uncle bequeaths all his money to his only and beloved nephew, so that he may open a restaurant. The problem is that all his life, the uncle was a sworn Communist, and his condition for granting the inheritance is that the restaurant be dedicated the values of Communism. Grisha is indifferent to these values but accepts the condition- he wants to make his dream come true at any price and he's prepares to dedicate the restaurant to any ideology they tell him to - it really doesn't matter. This leads to conflict between Grisha and his father, a failed poet who blames everything on the Soviet regime back in the Old Country.

Plucked from an orphanage as a literal love slave, the now adult Natalija (a luminous Kseniya Kutepova) serves her ape-like husband by tending his prized cow—whose milk they sell to customers on passing trains. When hubby suddenly drops dead, however, Natalija’s narrow life of cows and rails finally starts opening up. Dumping his body at the local hospital, dropping by church to say a few prayers and trading in the cow for a pet goat, she slowly eliminates all trace of his former hold on her, searching out a new life in the freedom that emerges.

Inspired by the paintings of Marc Chagall, director Efim Gribov interprets the workings of Motl's imagination via comic and grotesque figures, ghosts from the past, and a dreamy, surreal atmosphere. The film's tragi-comic tone and theme involving the American Dream make for an inspired viewing experience.
