NWA 069편이 첫 비행을 하는 날, 비행기가 이룩하려는 순간 맥 기장(스눕 독 분)이 고소공포증을 호소한다. 당황한 조종사 게이만은 그를 진정시켜 이륙 안내방송을 시키지만, 방송 중 구토증세를 일으켜 내숀과 승객들을 불안에 떨게 만든다. 진상을 파악하기 위해 조종실을 찾은 내숀은 맥 기장이 감옥에 수감되어 있던 중 조종교육을 받았고, 시뮬레이션 비행이 경력의 전부임을 알고는 경악한다. 내숀의 우려와 달리 비행기가 무사히 이륙하자 맥 기장은 대마초와 아프리카산 버섯에 탐닉하다가 버섯에 기도가 막혀 질식사한다. 사건의 전말을 알게 된 승객들로 인해 비행기는 한 순간에 아수라장으로 변한다. 사태 수습에 나선 내숀이 게이만 조종사에게 비상착륙을 지시하자, 비행기를 조종한다는 사실에 감격한 게이만은 졸도를 하고 마는데...
