Marko and Ankica never got over the death of their only child, Ante, in the war. When their neighbour Stipe suggests renting their son’s room to tourists, Marko feels insulted but Ankica manages to talk him into it. Renting rooms is easy money, especially for retired people, but having an unknown man sleeping in his son’s bed troubles Marko.

멀지 않은 미래, 크로아티아의 어느 시골 마을. 선택받은 자들과 부적합한 자들로 나뉜 채 마을은 술렁이고 주민들은 하나둘 고향을 떠난다. 마티야와 이카도 땅을 팔고 도시로 이주할 준비를 하지만, 부부에게는 아직 풀지 못한 숙제가 있다. 실종된 막내아들에 대한 기억을 아직 떠나보내지 못한 것. 도시에서 온 ‘그들’이 부부의 땅을 구매하고 이들의 삶에 서서히 침투하면서, 부부와 두 아이 사이에는 또 다른 긴장이 감돌고 급기야 갈등은 분열로 폭발하기에 이른다.

Three different love stories, set in three consecutive decades, in two neighbouring Balkan villages burdened with a long history of inter-ethnic hatred: this is a film about the dangers – and the enduring strength – of forbidden love.

A young couple, Robi and Ines have a 7-day deadline to pay off Robi's debt to the loan shark, or they will both be killed. When they meet a well-off banker, Marko, who could save them by lending them money, Ines and Marko become close. The crazy race against time results in a love triangle of bizarre emotions, lies and passion.

It is 1995. The summer when the war operation Storm will take place. Boro, who is going to be forty in a year and a half, with his wife Jasna and son Luka goes to his home village Drinovci, Herzegovina, after seven years. He wants to see his brother who managed to leave Sarajevo with his family. Boro knew that his brother was wounded, but when he sees him after many years, he discovers that the brother will spend the rest of his life in wheel chair. Boro constantly fights with Jasna, and he doesn't speak at all to his father Pako, whom he blames for his mother's death. In two weeks in August 1995, Boro will solve the years long dispute with his father, he will learn to be a better husband and a father.

Through a period of five days, the story follows intertwined characters who live in false serenity and rather chaotic general order.

A godforsaken mountain village is the only home that a young football player, a miser peasant and a fat girl have. This isolated part of the country finds itself in the middle of the referendum for or against the EU. Our characters couldn't care less - they are absorbed in their problems. The young football player who accidentally killed his mother doesn't want to join a rich foreign football team and is willing to risk his father's love because of it. The lonely fat girl is so desperate for a friend and for a lover that she will end up seeking both in the pig-sty. The miser peasant will find out that the real misery is in loneliness.
