Wu Te-chuan is a young man trying to make a living in an easy way. But now he is penniless and will being thrown out of his Macau hotel. Kind- hearted hotel maid Hsiao Yen is the only one to help him in the world. One day, Wu plays a trick on the hotel owner. The scheme backfires and Wu has to flee to Hong Kong. Wu saves desperate painter Hsin. He convinces Hsin that his painting will sell if he is dead. After Hsin pretend to be dead, his paintings really can be sold well, but backfires finally. Then, Wu and Hsin team up and engage themselves full time in con games, gambling and sex inclusive. Finally, Wu is being chased by the ring enforcers but is saved. Finding himself in love with Hsiao Yen, Wu decides to turn a new leaf and live properly ever after.

The beautiful Ching Li works for her father's stocking company while treacherously becoming the secretary to her father's competitor Li Tzu-yang. They fall in love as she teaches him new meanings to the words "mannequins" and "hosiery".

Under false pretenses, Zhenzhen marries Mr. Lin, who happens to be her teacher. She wants to still study and wants to enroll in his school in Hong Kong. The head of the school agrees to this under the condition that they conceal the fact that they are married. Zhenzhen finds out right away that her husband is fawned over by the girls, they all have a crush on him, as also does the spinster librarian. However, Mr. Lin finds that that the boys in the school (they are late teens, 17 or so) really like Zhenzhen. This leads to hurt feelings, questions about fidelity and even, in Zhenzhen's case, innocuous dates with one of the boys who rides a motorcycle.

Teddy plays some physically deformed musical genius named Wu Sheng who falls for a blind girl named Jui Fang (Chin Ping). Is love really blind? Lone swordsman Jiang Dan-Feng (Wong Chung-Shun) is ambushed by a pair of bandits and quickly despatches them. One of them, as he is dying, asks Jiang to take his personal effects to his sister. This being a Wuxia film, our hero is bound by a strict code of honour, and he agrees. The bandit’s sister, Xiu Xiu (Shu Pei-Pei), is surprisingly forgiving and tells him that he got mixed up in a bad crowd of robbers before he died. As it happens, these self-same bandits are threatening to tear up the village at any moment, and Jiang prepares to defend it despite being despised by the town folk for killing Xiu Xiu’s brother.

한적한 산길 물건을 운반하던 보표가 복면을 한 일당들에게 습격을 받는다. 그때 우연히 길을 가던 명우(왕우)는 보표들을 도와주지만 복면을 한 사람에게 표창을 맞고 쓰러진다. 그때 강호 기협으로 불리는 붉은 옷의 홍 부인(능파)이 나타나 명우를 치료 해준다. 상처가 나은 명우는 홍부인에게 고마움을 표시하고, 무참히 학살을 당한 부모님의 복수를 할 것이라고 한다. 자신의 남은 가족은 학살 당시 출타 중이던 고모뿐이라고 하고 자신은 사부의 의해 겨우 살아남았다고 한다. 그러나 자신은 당시 너무 어려서 누가 원수인지 조차 모른다고 한다. 그 이야기를 들은 홍부인은 무척 놀란다. 명우는 어려서 이미 결혼 언약이 되어 있는 연주(진평)의 집인 진가로 간다며 인사를 하고 떠난다. 진가에 도착한 명우는 일가에 따뜻한 환영을 받지만, 진가의 남자들은 그를 의심의 눈초리로 본다. 실은 진가 가문은 예로부터 정의를 수호하는 강호의 명가였고, 사악한 사파 홍련파로 부터 물건을 되찾아 원주인에게 되돌려 주려고 산적으로 변장하여 공격을 한 것이다. 그때 마침 진가로 찾아오는 명우를 만나게 된다. 명우는 산적의 습격을 받는 보표를 도와준다고 덤빈 행동이 진가 남자들에게는 그가 홍련파가 아닌가 하는 의심을 사게 된 것이다. 그러나 진가의 수장인 할머니의 강권으로 연주와 결혼이 예정 되로 진행된다. 한편 연주를 남몰래 흠모했던 두(나열)는 명우를 감시한다. 진가에는 예로부터 내려오는 규정이 있는데 진가의 무술을 배운 사람은 절대 진가를 떠나지 못한다는 것이다. 진가의 표창과 자신이 맞은 표창이 같은 것을 알아낸 명우는 연주에게 함께 진가를 떠나자고 부탁을 한다. 명우는 진가의 남자들이 도적질을 한다고 연주에게 말을 하지만 도리어 질타를 당한다.
