해동 고려의 명신 서량은 아내 이씨와 함께 새 왕조를 창건한 명나라에 하례사로 간다. 서량은 친숙한 영나라 개국공신에게 한신과 장량의 고사를 들어 어떤 불행을 예고한 것이 화근이 되어 피살된다. 잔인무도한 고견헌은 서량을 참살하고 나서 그의 미모의 부인을 능욕하고 아내로 삼는데 이때 그 부인은 서량의 아이를 잉태 중이었다. 세월이 흘러 20년 후 태극문에 입문한 서량의 아들 동운은 소림파의 십팔나한진을 격파코자 피나는 수련을 쌓는다. 고견헌은 무림천하를 제패하려고 청성파를 몰살하여 일대마두가 된다. 그러나 맹주금인 없이는 그 자격을 인정받지 못하기에 소림사의 고승 지현을 매수하여 금인의 소재를 추구한다. 동운은 아버지를 죽인 원수가 고견헌임을 알고 고견헌을 찾아 혈투 끝에 원수를 갚는다.
