Marisa Pavan (born Maria Luisa Pierangeli on 19 June 1932) is an Italian-born actress who first became famous as the twin sister to movie star Pier Angeli (Anna Maria Pierangeli) before achieving movie stardom on her own. Her breakthrough came in the film The Rose Tattoo as Anna Magnani's daughter; her role was first assigned to her twin, who at the time was unable to play the part. When Magnani won the Academy Award for Best Actress, Pavan accepted on her behalf as Magnani was not present at the awards ceremony. Pavan was nominated for best supporting actress, losing to Jo Van Fleet (for East of Eden). Both Magnani and Pavan won Golden Globe awards that year. Afterwards, Marisa Pavan co-starred in films such as The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, Diane, John Paul Jones and The Midnight Story. She married, divorced, and later remarried the French actor Jean-Pierre Aumont between 1956 until his death in 2001. 부인과 헤어진 마르코는 운전학원을 운영하며 아들이 하나 딸린 사랑스런 아내 이렌느와 동거중이다. 이렌느는 미장원을 운영하며 마르코와 달콤한 동거 생활을 이어가는데 맞벌이 부부라 가사는 가정부가 돌보고 있어 늘 식사가 부실하다. 그러던 어느 날 마르코의 건강에 이상이 온다. 과로려니하고 들린 병원에서 청천벽력 같은 소리를 듣는다. 남자인 마르코가 임신을 한 것 같다는 것이다. 놀란 마르코 부부는 전문의를 찾아 검진을 하지만 전문의는 오히려 남자의 임신에 대해 인정을 하고 이를 자신의 의학 전문기관을 통해 학술 발표를 하며 이일은 일파만파의 파장을 불러온다. 사회적 센세이션을 일으킨 이 사건으로 당사자인 마르코 부부는 처음엔 당황하고 부끄러워하지만 의학계에서는 오히려 종의 변형을 시대적으로 인정을 한다. 각종 환경의 변화와 음식물, 의약품의 검증되지 않은 부작용등의 사례를 들어 임신원인의 타당성을 규명한다. 이때 때를 맞추어 임산부 전문 용품 회사에서 남성용 임산용품 전속 계약이 들어오고 이들 부부는 어리둥절한 채로 현실을 받아들이게 된다. 사회 저명인사가 되어 학식 있는 사회 유명 인사들의 반 친환경적인 현대인의 환경요건과 종교적 규범까지 연일 토론의 장이 열리고 덩달아 마르코는 나날이 부풀어 오르는 배를 애지중지 잘 보호를 하지만 임신 7개월이 넘어서서 종합 검사 결과 임신이 아님이 밝혀진다. 단지 비만이었던 것이다.

아도니아(Adonijah: 죠지 샌더스 분)는 시바의 여왕(Sheba: 지나 롤로브리지다 분)을 찾아가 함께 솔로몬(Solomon: 율 브린너 분)에 대적할 것을 권유하며 마침내 시바의 여왕은 솔로몬의 지혜를 실험하고 그를 유혹하여 부족들에게서 신임을 잃게하기 위해 이스라엘을 방문한다. 하지만 시바의 여왕은 솔로몬의 지혜와 용기에 감탄하여 사랑에 빠지게 된다. 그로인해 솔로몬과 시바의 여왕은 국정에 소홀하게 되고 백성들의 원성과 타부족의 이간책에 의해 궁지에 몰리게 된다. 그러던 중 형 아도니아에 의해 암살될 위기에 처하며 마침내 전쟁을 일으키게 된다. 첫번째의 싸움에서 아도니아에게 참패를 당하게 되고 백성들은 도탄에 빠지며 형 아도니아가 궁궐을 점령하여 시바의 여왕을 백성들의 신판에 맡겨 돌을 던지도록 명령한다. 그 때 솔로몬은 이집트군을 맞아 대승리를 하고 궁으로 귀환하던 중 시바의 여왕이 돌에 맞아 광장에 쓰러져 있음을 발견한다. 솔로몬이 시바의 여왕에게 다가 서려는 순간 아도니아의 공격을 받게 되고 결투 끝에 형을 살해하게 된다. 또한 시바의 여왕은 이스라엘의 신전 앞에 깊이 사죄하고 용서를 빌며 본국으로 돌아가 자신의 백성들을 위해 힘쓸 것을 맹세한다. 그 순간 신의 계시가 내려져 이스라엘의 옛 영광이 찾아들고 시바의 여왕은 솔로몬의 아들을 잉태하였음을 고백하고 자신의 나라의 후계자로서 임명하여 서로의 우의를 다질 것을 맹세한다. 이로서 솔로몬과 시바의 여왕은 영원한 사랑을 간직하고 서로의 갈길로 나가게 된다
