Pu Songling

Pu Songling, is a social journalist. In the course of his interviews, he often encounters strange stories that he cannot publish in the newspaper, so he sets up his own personal website, called "Liaozhai".

A weak and hungry old man begs for a pear from a fruit peddler, but the peddler refuses and rejects him. A little boy bravely steps forward and spends his last coin to buy a pear for the old man. Finally, a magical form of justice emerges from the ground.

우 부인은 왕 대인의 은혜에 보답하고자 그의 바보 아들 원풍과 자신의 딸 소추와 결혼시키려 하지만 소취는 이를 거부한다. 그러던 중 원풍의 아버지 왕 대인은 박쥐 요괴에게 잡혀가 목숨을 잃게 되고 원풍에게 있는 신비한 능력을 알게 된 사람들은 그 힘을 사용하여 박쥐 요괴에게 복수하려 하지만 진정한 사랑이 있어야지만 힘을 사용할 수 있다. 무거운 짐을 지게 된 소취는 원풍의 진심 어린 마음에 차가웠던 마음이 서서히 녹아 내리지만 박쥐 요괴의 습격으로 원풍이 크게 다치고 되고 이런 원풍을 살리고자 소취는 자신의 목숨을 내놓고 바보가 되었지만 또 다시 박쥐요괴의 습격을 당하는데…

2000년 전, 중국 한•조 시대 광활한 사막 한가운데에서 벌어진 전투를 지휘하던 왕생(진곤) 장군은 포로로 잡혀있던 절세가인 소위(주신)를 구해서 돌아온다. 묘한 매력과 아름다운 외모로 주변 사람들의 호감을 사는 소위를 보며 왕생 장군의 아름다운 부인 배용(조미)은 그녀를 친절하게 돌보면서도 알 수 없는 불안함을 느낀다. 그 즈음 성안은 심장이 없어진 채 죽은 시체들이 하나, 둘 발견 되고, 성안에는 심상치 않은 기운과 함께 점점 이상한 소문이 돌기 시작한다. 어느 날, 2년 전 자신의 군대를 버리고 떠났던 대륙 최고의 무사 방용(견자단)이 성으로 다시 돌아온다. 소위의 수상한 행적들을 의심하며 불안해 하던 배용은 방용에게 도움을 요청하고, 방용은 우연히 만난 여자 퇴마사 하빙(손려)과 함께 소위의 정체를 밝히려 한다. 하지만 소위의 치명적인 아름다움에 매혹된 왕생 장군은 배용의 말마저 믿지 않고 오히려 소위를 감싸며 두 여인 사이에서 흔들리기 시작하는데…

Taiwanese horror film.

Directed by some of most well known Chinese-language directors of the time, the portmanteau film Four Moods was an attempt to alleviate Li Han-hsiang’s financial troubles during the late 1960s. Arguably one of his best works, King Hu’s short Anger is an adaptation of the famous Peking opera San Cha Kou; set to opera instrumentation and stylishly shot, the film deftly captures the tense showdown between political schemers, avengers and vagabonds inside an inn. Li Han-hsiang’s Happiness, inspired by the Strange Tales of Liaozhai, tells a tale of reprieve for a kind-hearted ghost, while Pai Ching-Jui’s Joy and Lee Hsing’s Sadness both explore the fateful encounters between mortal men and ghostly women.

정치적으로 어지러웠던 명나라 말기, 벼슬에 뜻이 없는 선비 고성제는 초야에 묻혀 다른 이들의 초상화를 그려 주며 살고 있다. 그는 어느 날 우연히 폐가에 살고 있는 양낭자를 만나고 아름다운 그녀를 사랑하게 된다. 양낭자는 과거 충신의 후손으로 아버지가 역적으로 몰려 죽은 뒤에 가족들을 몰살하려는 조정의 무사들을 피해 도망 다니고 있는 중이다. 고성제는 양낭자 일행과 합류한 뒤 병법에서 응용한 여러 가지 계략을 세워 이들을 돕게 된다.

Three tales taken from author Pu Songling's collection of famous classical ghost stories. Wu Qiuyue- Wang Ding falls in love with a ghost and fights with the guards of Hades to bring her back. Monk Lu Shan-A monk takes Wang Qi as pupil and teaches him the act of walking through walls. A Woman's Head- Li Sheng marries Rui niang only to discover that she is a headless ghost.

FAIRY, GHOST, VIXEN (1965) consists of three fanciful tales that may be loosely classified as ghost stories, but they're presented and designed more along the lines of traditional fairy tales. They're beautifully staged and photographed and have a timeless quality about them with a moral at the end of each.

Uncle Mao and Aunt Mao are well-known surgeons and physicians within hundreds of miles. They are kind, honest and amiable, and their medical ethics and skills are quite praised by the people. Early one morning, the old couple split up and went out for a medical trip. Aunt Mao drank some wedding wine at someone's house after delivering the baby, and started her way home drunk. While lying drunk in the mountains, he encountered a beautiful tiger. The tiger had no intention of harming it, but was very docile. It turned out that it was hoped that Aunt Mao would help it deliver the baby to the tigress at home.
