Marvin Starkman is an actor, known for Time's Up! (2001) and Jug Face (2013), as well as his directorial efforts The Box (1969) and The American Way (1962), both of which are in the MoMA's permanent collection. He died on August 10, 2019.

어느 한적한 시골마을, 마을에는 사람의 목을 잘라 그 피를 제물로 바치면 평화를 지켜주는 구덩이가 있다. 구덩이에 제물로 바칠 피는 마을의 도자기 장인 '다와이'가 빚은 얼굴모양의 도자기와 닮은 사람의 목을 잘라 구해야 한다. 하지만 이번에 마을의 제물로 바쳐질 사람은 임신한 지 2주차 밖에 안된 '에이다'. 그녀는 자신의 뱃속의 아기를 지키기 위해 자신의 얼굴이 빚어진 도자기를 숨긴다. 그리고 며칠 뒤 마을사람들이 그녀 대신에 의문의 사고로 죽어가게 되고, 이 사건이 자신의 탓을 알게된 '에이다'는 마을에서 도망치게 되는데... 과연 '에이다'는 마을의 저주에서 벗어날 수 있을까?
