Carlos Vilardebó

A French sailor circa 1850, disembarks in a desert Atlantic island, and discovers a woman who had survived for many years her father and brother, dead while searching for mysterious valuables. The young couple discover paradise, and its end.

Among Alexander Calder's creations were miniature spring-loaded circus figures, made of wire. In this short film, Calder (1989-1976) talks about and demonstrates these toy-like creations. We see them spin, hop, roll, and leap. It's pure whimsy, wit, and glee.

A pre-Columbian statuette at the Louvre Museum is observed by a camera, just like if it was held under the microscope of a patient scientist. Chubby body, painful mask, it sometimes seems an innocent creature, sometimes a tragic deity.
