오설리반(Father O'Sullivan: 팀 설리반 분)은 멕시코까지의 여행단을 이끌고 가는데 관광 코스에는 아즈텍, 마야의 고대 문명뿐 아니라 옥시카의 'Laughing Death'라는 고대의 축제도 포함되어 있다. 그러나 예정에도 없던 무시무시한 공포의 코스도 관광하게 되는데 어린 아이의 시체가 나타났다가는 사라지고 하는 것이다. 이상하고 충격적인 체험들을 통해서 여행객들은 아무도 해본 적이없는 무서운 경험을 하고 있으며 'Laughing Death'가 단순한 축제가 아님을 깨닫게 된다. 이제 전혀 낯선 곳에서 꿈과 현실을 넘나드는 필사의 게임을 펼치게 되는데 아즈텍의 고대 신 '죽음의 신'이 몰고 온 재앙에 모두 죽음의 위기에 처하게 된다.
