Three grandsons embark an anarchic journey into the past – a complex road movie about intergenerational dialogue in Great Britain, Germany and Hungary. Granny Project is a seven-year-long investigation of three young men coming to terms with their heritage through the extraordinary lives of their grandmothers: an English spy, a dancer from Nazi Germany and a Hungarian communist Holocaust survivor. The film deals with classic values and taboo-like historical topics, and the method used is equally important as it gives an insight to the zeitgeist of the young today.

A man in his 30s is on the run with a nine-year-old girl. As they take a ferry to the United Kingdom, traces of a common past come to light — a past filled with loss and sorrow. Fleeing in secret, they end up hiding in a small apartment on the seafront, where they live day-to-day, exploring each other’s emotional territories. Mourning will bind them, but is this alliance of dependence appropriate for them and for the outside world?

1997. Young car mechanic Iván lives in a godforsaken village in eastern Hungary. He looks after his mentally disabled sister Eszter and earns extra money smuggling diesel oil from Ukraine. The siblings' coexistence is disrupted by a tragic event, Eszter is raped. A police investigation gets under way; in the meantime, Iván starts up a relationship with young Ilus, who has just finished school and is planning on going to the university. 2차 세계대전에 참전했던 할아버지 벤델은 상사인 중위의 부인과 사랑을 나누다 상사에게 살해당한다. 여기서 태어난 아들은 칼만. 먹는 데 소질을 타고난 그는 음식을 계기로 가정을 꾸린다. 먹기대회에서 만난 ‘초콜릿 와퍼 먹기’의 최고 기록 보유자 지젤라와 결혼을 하게 된 것. 하지만 이들 사이에서 태어난 아들 라요스는 먹는 것과 전혀 관계가 없어 보인다. 그는 몸무게가 500g도 채 되지 않는 미숙아다. 라요스는 박제사가 되어 자신의 결함을 보상받으려 하고, 점점 더 큰 일을 꾸민다.

Two stories running in parallel: In one, a model is surrounded by men wanting to use and abuse her though, without realizing it, she is protected by a strange tramp guardian angel. In the other, a blind goldsmith struggles to produce his latest commission in the midst of his alcoholism and depression. Both then descend further and further into their own personal hells until they finally re-find peace with themselves and then their stories briefly merge.
