2차 세계대전 중 호주 공군 비행 중위인 '짐'은 총에 맞아 나무에 걸린 채 깨어난다. 유일한 방어 수단인 권총을 잃어버렸다는 것을 깨달은 '짐'은 일본 순찰을 피하기 위해 위험한 싱가포르 정글을 헤맨다. 진흙과 늪, 그리고 일본 선전이 가득한 들판을 헤쳐나가던 중 중국 게릴라 전사 '셍'과 마주친다. 그들은 서로의 언어를 말할 수 없음에도 불구하고 함께 정글을 빠져나가기로 결심한다.
