인디언의 입장에서 백인을 비판적으로 묘사한 수정주의 웨스턴 영화로, 캡틴 아파치가 주인공으로서 인디언과 백인 모두를 위해 싸우지만 결국 백인을 위해서 이용당함을 보여준다. 구성이 복잡하고 동시다발적으로 사건을 처리하기 때문에 다소 혼란스러워 보인다. 따라서 병행 편집 효과도 많이 사용되었고 나름대로 뛰어난 효과를 거두고 있다.
