Franklin Roy Bruno, MBE (born 16 November 1961) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 1996. He had a highly publicised and eventful career, both in and out of the ring. The pinnacle of Bruno's boxing career was winning the WBC heavyweight title from Oliver McCall at a packed Wembley Stadium in 1995, in what was his fourth world championship challenge. Bruno faced multiple top-rated heavyweights throughout his career, including two fights against Mike Tyson in 1989 and 1996, and a domestic clash against Lennox Lewis in 1993. He was also known for his exceptional punching power, scoring 38 knockouts in 40 wins and giving him a 95% knockout-to-win ratio; his overall knockout percentage was 84.44%. Bruno has been ranked among BoxRec's 10 best heavyweights in the world 12 times, reaching his career-high ranking of world No.3 at the conclusion of 1984.[2] Like Henry Cooper before him, Bruno has remained a popular celebrity with the British public following his retirement from boxing, including his well-documented struggles with mental health. 평범하지만 유쾌한 남자 지미, 권투로 성공한 그의 인생 성공 스토리 !! 런던의 한 작은 도시의 복싱 체육관, 한 거구의 남자와 여러 사람들이 스파링을 하고 있지만 모두들 링에 오르자마자 예외 없이 제대로 주먹한번 휘둘러보지 못하고 KO를 당한다. 모두들 링 밖으로 나가떨어지고 이제 남은 건 복싱을 배운지 얼마 안 되는 지미뿐이다. 여러 사람을 KO 시킨 인물은 일주일 후 세계 헤비급 챔피언과 격돌할 영국의 복싱 유망주 피트, 하지만 링위에서 지미의 어이없는 스트레이트 한방에 나가떨어지게 되고 결국 흥분한 피트는 지미의 머리를 강하게 가격하지만 오히려 손에 치명적인 골절상만 입게된다. 시합이 일주일 앞으로 다가와 선수 교체가 불가능한 사항이지만 이대로 경기를 포기해야한다면 모두의 웃음 거리가 될 상황이다. 결국 피트의 매니저 부시는 피트 대신 지미를 세계 챔피언 호세와 경기를 갖도록 하고 이에 피트는 격렬히 항의 하지만 결국 지미가 일주일 후에 있을 세계 챔피언 타이틀 매치에 나가기로 결정된다.하지만 오합지졸만 모인 도장에서 제대로된 트레이닝을 한다는 건 불가능하고 지미는 겨우 윗몸 일으키기와 팔굽혀펴기로 일주일 후에 있을 세계 타이틀 매치에 대한 훈련을 한다. 지미가 세계 헤비급 복싱 챔피언과 시합한다는 소문이 마을에 퍼지면서 지미는 일약 마을의 영웅으로 떠오르지만 그것도 잠시 매니저 부시의 어처구니없는 지시에 지미는 파시스트로 몰려 마을에서 외톨이가 되어 버리고 시합전날 집에서 쫓겨나기 까지 한다. 수많은 우여곡절 끝에 도착한 시합장, 하지만 지미와 챔피언 호세가 시합을 시작하기도 전 대기실에 총을 들고 난입한 피트에 의해 모든 사람들은 그대로 피트의 인질이 되고 만다.
