Judy Berlin is an aspiring actress whose idealism is at odds with her small suburban community, where a solar eclipse induces town inhabitants (a lonely housewife, a frustrated schoolteacher, and a struggling filmmaker) to search for solace and understanding in themselves and one another.

Since his return as Autobot leader, Optimus Prime has had visions of an ominous event. Amassing all their forces, the Decepticons stage a final attack that leads to the planet Nebulos, where the inhabitants find a way to merge with both factions as Headmasters. The ensuing battle sees newly built Autobots and Decepticons face off in an epic battle that will decide the fate of Earth and Cybertron.

일본에서 제작한 변신로봇장난감인 나이아크론은 미국에서도 크게 히트하게 되고, 변신로봇을 소재로 TV판 애니메이션이 제작되었다. 이후 극장판 영화로 제작하게 되고, 연출은 TV판 제작을 맡은 넬슨 신이 맡았다.
