호주의 미들아이랜드. 그곳에서는 오래전부터 펭귄들이 살고 있었다. 하지만 어느날 밤 여우들이 섬으로 들어가는 방법을 알아차린 후 부터 한때 수천마리에 달하던 펭귄들은 이제 20마리 밖에 남지 않았다. 섬의 펭귄들을 조사하는 미들랜드의 심의회는 펭귄 수가 10마리 이하로 줄어들면, 섬을 관광지에서 제외시키겠다는 통보를 한다. 펭귄들을 조사하는 에밀리(사라 스누크)는 섬이 관광지에서 제외가 된다면 일자리를 잃게되는 상황이 되어버렸다. 한편 에밀리의 아빠 스왐피(셰인 제이콥슨)는 양계장을 운영하며, 두 마리의 마렘마 쉽독(Maremma Sheepdog)을 키우고 있다. 하지만 그 중 오드볼이라는 특이한 녀석은 종종 말썽을 피워서 마을 시위원회로 부터 문제견으로 낙인이 찍힌상태다. 그러던 중 섬이 펭귄 관광지에서 빠질 수도 있다는 이야기를 들은 스왐피는 섬을 방문하게 되고, 거기서 부상당한 펭귄 한 마리를 발견하게된다. 집으로 돌아와 펭귄을 치료하던 스왐피는 오드볼이 펭귄을 끔찍이 아끼는 것을 보게된다. 거기서 아이디어를 얻은 스왐피는 딸을 돕기 위해 오드볼을 펭귄보호견으로 섬에 파견하려는 계획을 세우게 되는데...

Lano and Woodley's Good Bye tour marked the end of one of Australia's great comedy partnerships after twenty years. More than 120,000 people came to say good bye to Lano and Woodley in one of the 37 cities that they visited over the nine months that they spent on the road.

Lano & Woodley: The Island was filmed during the Brisbane theatrical season at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in August 2004. The basic premise of the show revolves around an ill-fated holiday trip to Hawaii, which results in Colin and Frank being marooned on an island.The show opens with an ambiguous scene of Colin Lane about to hang for the murder of Frank Woodley. From here the comical story unfolds. En route, their plane crashes into the ocean and Lano & Woodley are washed up and marooned on a deserted tropical island. Many hilarious situations follow as the couple fight and argue their way through their survival quest.
