A senior official of the Mexican political system decides to fake the capture and death of The Coyote, public enemy number one in Mexico, to make this happen, he cuts a deal with his family, who require a dead body to pose as a double. Topillero is responsible of executing the plan. But on this journey he is reunited with his wife and son, whom he abandoned years ago.

Four interwoven stories about love and self-acceptance: An eleven year-old boy struggles to keep secret the attraction he feels towards his male cousin. Two former childhood friends reunite and start a relationship that gets complicated due to one of them’s fear of getting caught. A gay long lasting relationship is in jeopardy when a third man comes along. An old family man is obsessed with a young male prostitute and tries to raise the money to afford the experience.

Adapted by writer/director Fernando Sariñana from the stories by Juan Madrid, Ciudades Oscuras (Dark Cities) tells a story of interwoven lives in the seedy underbelly of Mexico City. The several different story lines concern hooker Lola (Dolores Heredia); her drug addict son Fede (Diego Luna); her friend Zeze (Zaide Silvia Gutierrez); Zeze's daughter Susana (Jimena Ayala); and junkie Vicente (Roberto Sosa). The human and divine justice are exposed through five real life stories related to the legal processes of a prison. The cases presented are: "I want to stay in jail", "Blood between women", "The raped prostitute", "The kidnapped policeman", and "Euthanasia or murder?"

The film tells the story of the Boteros, a middle-class Mexican family struggling against poverty after their father's death. Ignacia (Egurrola) is the Boteros mother, a desperate woman who chooses to sacrifice the destiny of her three older children, in order to protect Gabriel (Laguardia) the youngest one. She believes Gabriel will climb the social structure and bring back the lost fortune to the family. But destiny has other plans for the Boteros and tragedy will overcome eventually. Based on the novel of Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz.

Virginia and Nacho, is a poor marriage, living precariously on their meager salaries, insufficient to support his child nine years of age. Until fortune smiles and Nacho wins a late model car. But sometimes it's better that luck will smile.

After a week of hospitalization, Lolo loses his job and is forced to seek sustenance. The accidental death of an elderly woman, whom Lolo trying to steal a watch that his mother had insisted, facing the young people in your neighborhood and forces him to flee, full of guilt and shame.

A retired union leader runs a restaurant by the highway with the help of his wife and his young son. One day a wounded criminal, his lover and his brother, all fugitives from law and being pursued by the woman's husband, forcefully seek out a hiding place. They take the family hostage until the delinquents are confronted.

Claudio, a womanizer, contracts AIDS due to his promiscuous lifestyle, and, in the hospital, he meets Mauricio, a homosexual Evangelist who is also infected and will discover Jesus to Claudio.

The film narrates the discovery of the last great Mayan city, which occurred during the spring of 1946. They both decide to leave their respective partners to live together, however, jealousy, blackmail and guilt will become unbreakable patterns destroying their tragic relationship
