'H3' is a universal story of endurance and courage set inside Europe's most secure prison, the Maze prison in Northern Ireland. Here, in H3 - the bleakest of all the H-blocks - a group of young republican prisoners hold out for what they believe in, refusing to be labeled as criminals or co-operate with prison authorities. However, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is determined that these Republican prisoners will be treated like all the other common criminals in British jails, ending a special regime which allowed the inmates political status to organise life inside the jail along POW lines. The republican prisoners immediately start a 'no-wash' protest, refusing to wear prison-issue clothes or perform work duties, a protest which results in their being locked in their cells for hours on end without exercise, recreation, reading materials and with only blankets to wear for heat...

Inspired by a series of actual racial hazing incidents, 'Followers' focuses on three friends who want to pledge an exclusive fraternity. The friendship disintegrates when one of the friends is not accepted because he is black. To test the loyalty of the two white friends, the fraternity president forces them to target their African American friend through a series of dangerous, racially motivated hazing incidents.

미국 남부 텍사스의 프론테라는 멕시코와 국경을 접하고 있는 마을로 지도층은 백인이지만, 주민의 대부분은 멕시코인과 흑인들로 내적 갈등이 많은 곳이다. 어느날 마을 외곽지역에서 오래된 보안관의 뱃지와 신원을 알 수 없는 해골이 발견되고 부임한지 얼마 안되는 셈 디드가 수사를 맡게 된다. 샘은 프론테라 출신이지만, 고향을 오랫동안 떠나 생활하다 이혼 후 다시 돌아왔다. 수사를 시작한 샘은 우선 시장 홀리스 포그를 만난다. 흘리스는 과거에 버디와 함께 일했었으며, 악명 높은 그들의 동료 촬리 웨이드에 대해 샘에게 자세한 이야기를 해준다. 찰리는 지독한 인종차별 주의자였으며 실제로 흑인과 히스패닉계 주민을 정당방위라는 이유로 여러명 죽인 인물이다. 찰리는 술집과 가게들을 상대로 돈을 뜯고 괴롭히기로 유명한 인물이었는데, 어느날 공금 만불을 훔쳐 달아난 이후로 소식이 끊겼다. 수사에 열중하던 샘은 옛 연인인 필라를 우연히 만나게 된다. 필라는 고급 식당을 운영하는 메르세데스 크루즈의 딸로 학교 선생님인데, 불법침입죄로 경찰서에 잡혀온 골치덩어리 아들을 데리러 왔다가 샘과 마주친다. 필라는 딸과 아들과 살고 있으며, 남편과는 사별한 후 외로운 생활을 하고 있었다. 헤어진 이후 처음 만난 이들이지만, 곧 옛사랑을 느끼게 되고 급격히 가까와지지만, 필라의 어머니 메르세데스는 매우 못마땅해한다. 수사가 진행될수록 샘은 찰리와 그의 아버지 버디, 그리고 현 시장인 홀리스 사이에 일어났던 일들이 홀리스가 설명한 대로가 아님을 직감하게 된다. 현재까지도 이 마을 혹인들에게 가장 인기있는 술집의 주인 오티스도 연관되어 있음 또한 알게된다. 샘은 아버지 버디의 숨은 과거를 찾고자 이흔한 아내 버니를 찾아가 그의 옛 물건들을 뒤지게 되고, 거기서 버디의 오래된 연애편지들을 발견한다. 놀랍게도 버디의 연인은 필라의 어머니인 메르세데스였으며, 필라가 버디의 딸임을 직감하게 된다.
