Forty years after his death, this documentary pays tribute to one of the major filmmakers of Italian cinema, to an original work that continues to inspire today's cinema. Coming from one of the greatest families of the Italian aristocracy, he could have been a rich and cultured man, living in opulence and idleness, but Luchino wanted a different destiny. This is the story that director Elisabeth Kapnist and Christian Dumais-Lvowski wanted to tell. Count Visconti di Modrone wears the clothes of a legend that he never stopped shaping throughout his life. This documentary reconstructs the fabric of a brilliant life, dedicated to art; theater, opera, and cinema. This artistic work is also that of a committed man, who was a fellow traveler of the Communist Party, and who resisted fascism.

은퇴한 미국인 교수가 로마의 호화로운 대저택에서 하녀와 함께 조용히 살고 있다. 그러던 어느 날, 천박해 보이는 부인 비앙카가 들이닥쳐 저택에 세를 들겠다고 한다. 비앙카는 딸 리에타와 함께, 연하의 애인 콘라드와 딸의 애인 스테파노를 데리고 온다. 주로 저택에서 지내는 콘라드는 마음대로 벽을 부수는 등 문제를 일으키고, 교수의 평화로운 일상을 무너진다. 그리고 콘라드는 비앙카는 물론, 리에타, 스테파노와 함께 경계라곤 없는 방탕한 생활을 이어간다. 하지만 교수는 그들을 쫓아내기는커녕 콘라드에게 마음을 열고, 그들에게서 묘한 유대감을 느낀다. The Last Judgement (Italian: Il giudizio universale) is a 1961 commedia all'italiana film by Italian director Vittorio De Sica. It was coproduced with France. It has an all-star Italian and international cast, including Americans Jack Palance, Ernest Borgnine; Greek Melina Mercouri and French Fernandel, Anouk Aimée and Lino Ventura. The film was a huge flop, massacred by critics and audiences when it was released. It was filmed in black and white, but the last sequence, the dance at theatre, is in color.

Soon after he arrives at his new post, a revolt by the local Cossacks breaks out and the fort is besieged by the rebels. The young officer is astonished to find out that the leader of the rebellious Cossacks is none other than the stranger whose life he had saved during the storm.

Later, yielding to the pleas of Orsola, Rocco and Rocco's son, Salvatore, the girl stays on in the house, and Salvatore falls in love with the beautiful stranger, who is careful to keep the family members from learning she is Rosaria, the grown up sister of Pietro seeking revenge for the deaths of her brother and mother.
