Megalopolis Express Way Trial Max
Sendo, champion of the Osaka Expressway is challenged to a race by Tatsuya Shikiba, champion racer of the Metropolitan Expressway. During their race, Sendo crashes and injures himself. Two months later, when Sendo is released from the hospital, je looks to find Tatsuya for a rematch. Tatsuya has given up racing after the death of his friend Kazuki during a race, but Sendo wants his rematch. Kazuki’s sister, though distraught with the loss of her brother, decides to help Tatsuya get over his fear of racing and get back on the road to live out his and Kazuki’s dream of being a race car driver.

However, in order to break the record of the Megalopolis Express Freeway, you need to have "luck" in addition to a high-powered street-machine and driving technique. A boy named Kenichi, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. His most favorite car is the Skyline GT-R (BNR32). His only wish, was to become a professional driver, like his idol Keiichi Tsuchiya. His older brother sells not only his car (Silvia K's (S13)), but also his father's car as well, in order to buy a Red GT-R (BNR32). The elder brother chose to race on the streets because he knows his Kenichi won't be able to see it by the time he went pro. One day while visiting the tracks, the little boy happened to bump into Tsuchiya and was taken for a ride. As the younger brother's condition becomes worse, and on his deathbed, he makes his older brother promise to become a professional driver, and to beat Tsuchiya in a race.

One day while performing time trials, a Toyota Supra comes onto the track and challenges Kyosuke to a race, but he is no match for the former street racing record holder. Kyosuke is still haunted by that devastating crash that occurred on the Expressway a few years ago, which caused him to leave street racing. When Kyosuke hears his old rival, Yusuke has crashed on the freeway while racing the unknown Supra, Kyosuke returns to the Megalopolis Express Freeway for one last street race.

Takahiro Yamane is the owner of an automobile tuning shop. His friend, Junichi Tashiro, has a girlfriend Nozomi who's a reporter and has connections to the race driver Keiichi Tsuchiya. Tashiro accepts a challenge from another street racer named Sawaki, and dies in the attempt. Nozomi shows Takahiro the Skyline GT-R that she bought for her late boyfriend. She gifts this car to him. Takahiro, while discouraged by her not to drive the Shutoko again, Sawaki challenges him to a duel.
