Jojo Goh

Duan, a Mak Yong artist, migrates to Kuala Lumpur at the insistence of his parents after being involved in a fight in the village. He meets his friends from the village and works in various part-time jobs but his new life in the city does not prevent him from continuing to be active in the arts of Mak Yong that has been integrated in his soul. He clashes with a group of criminals when he tries to save a girl. She is kidnapped because of a past revenge that had caused the brother of a criminal leader to be sentenced to death for killing her boyfriend.

태국과 말레이시아 국경에 있는 작은 마을에서 어린 시절을 보낸 감독이 목격한 사건을 바탕으로 만든 영화. 1987년, 청은 정성껏 모시는 나독공의 사당에 들어온 뱀을 쫓아내다 옆집을 부수게 된다. 옆집 깨우와 남은 크게 화를 내는데, 얼마 후 남은 집을 고칠 자재를 구하러 가다 트럭에 치여 죽고, 깨우는 마을에서 사라진다. 청도 원인 모를 병으로 앓아 눕는데, 청의 아내는 백방으로 치료법을 수소문하다 산속 동굴에서 기도하는 여인을 만나게 된다.

아버지도 오빠도 잠을 자지 못하는 병에 걸려 죽었고, 자신도 같은 병이라고 믿는 여인이 있다. 병의 원인을 찾던 의사는 단순한 유전병이 아니라 일제 시대의 비극적인 사건에 얽힌 저주라고 확신한다. [인육만두]를 만들었던 허먼 여우가 다시 선사하는 멋진 고어 장면을 만날 수 있다.

The first Malaysian 3D film, "29 Februari" focuses on a man born on the leap day of 29 February, and ages only one year in every four years. Because of this unique trait, he has lived through many historical periods of Malaysia; from the colonial years to the Japanese invasion and Independence. Though some may consider it a gift, the man's long life can also be a curse as he has to face the reality of seeing the ones he loves die. A highlight of the film will be the changing landscape of Malaysia from the early days up to 2012.

The story begins with a pair of siblings, Ah Mun and Ah Long who hate loan sharks because they caused the death of their father. They vowed to each other that if given an opportunity, they would rid the world of this social menace. However, as time wears on, the siblings realize they have to choose between justice and love. Malaysia’s MCA Public Service and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong (who has been actively addressing loan shark problems) will make a special appearance.
