거대한 컴퓨터 게임회사 부사장 딜리건은 천재 프로그래머 플린의 아이디어를 훔쳐 오늘날의 지위를 얻어낸 음흉한 자이나 그를 돕는 메인 컴퓨터의 고성능 기능으로 전체 군주로 군림한다. 그러나 이에 의혹을 품은 젊은 프로그래머 알렌은 정보를 얻어내기 위해 제작한 프로그램 트론을 메인 컴퓨터가 삼켜버리자 플린에게 도움을 요청한다. 그러나 정보에 접근하려던 플린마저 컴퓨터에 먹혀버리고 컴퓨터 세계로. 플린은 프로그래머들이 만든 프로그램들이 사람처럼 간주되어 죽음의 경기를 펼치고 있음을 보게된다. 플린은 이 컴퓨터 세계에서 최고의 전사로 되어있는 트론과 힘을 합쳐 딜리건의 메인 통제 컴퓨터와 전쟁을 벌인다. 치열한 컴퓨터 전쟁끝에 메인통계 컴퓨터를 부수고 딜기건의 흉악한 음모를 밝혀낸다.

갑자기 미국 나사에 정체불명 물체가 미국에 다가오는 게 탐지된다. 놀란 미군이 파병되어 밤중에산에 착륙한 그것을 포위하는데 포위한 미군들은 어이 날리고 하하하하 웃어버린다 고양이가 타 있었기 때문이다. 하지만 곧 그들은 웃음을 멈춘다. 생긴 건 고양이인데 이 고양이가 사람들 머릿 속으로 여긴 어디지? 너희들은 이 별 생물체냐? 목소리를 나눴기 때문. 그렇다...머나먼 고양이별에서 온 외계 고양이의 지구 정착기를 다룬 코믹 영화이다 미군들은 위험하다고 죽이자고 하고 과학자들은 반대한다. 그 중 하나 프랭크 박사는 이 고양이에게 제이크라는 이름을 지어준다. 박사는 참 어이없어 하는데 생긴 것도 고양이지만 지구 고양이와 똑같이 움직이는 것에 호기심을 보이고 사람에게 애교를 부리는 고양이이기 때문. 그러나, 제이크는 역시 텔레파시로 대화를 하며 우주선이 고장나 돌아갈 연료를 찾아야 한다라고 하는데 스스로가 연료를 찾겠다고 나가버린다. 알고보니 제이크는 염동력을 부릴 수 있었다. 놀란 미군은 수배령을 내리고 지구에서 제이크를 두고 엉망진창 소동이 벌어진다
