The film ABOVE THE DUST shows the life of contemporary Chinese rural areas and the historical changes experienced by rural families in a panoramic perspective. The film outlines the unique and sincere feelings between three generations in a delicate way, and also expresses people’s deep affection for land.

The people on the front line of the fight against the epidemic had to learn to say goodbye in addition to being under high pressure. The community workers in the rear took care of the residents, but bear the risks by themselves. Fathers and sons who usually lack communication are also forced to get along both day and night. There are always some unexpected things happening, but there is always a healing seed that takes root in people's hearts. This is a movie about spring and hope.

The film is inspired by the story of Hao Wanzhong, a policeman in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. Following his career, through the inner workings of a modern Chinese police department in Inner Mongolia. While rising through the ranks Hao Wanzhong successfully solves difficult cases. His story carries us through vicious murders, corruption, and social unrest, against a backdrop of majestic winter landscapes, opulent cities and the raw industrial districts of this remote region of China. Hao's obsession with detective work leads to his meteoric rise from beat cop to district police chief, however his maniacal dedication comes at a cost, a cost to his family and ultimately leads to his death. - Written by Sean O'Dea

Qin Xiaoyue discovered that her shared roommate Xiao Yun disappeared suddenly, but because of insufficient evidence, she did not attract the attention of the criminal policeman Wen Sheng. She decided to find Xiao Yun's whereabouts by herself, but was obstructed by her friend Li Zhongping.
