현대 볼리비아. 일주일을 걸어 라파스에 도착한 엘데르와 동료 광부들의 목표는 오직 하나, 복직이다. 그런데 엘데르의 상태가 좋지 않다. 마마 판차의 도움으로 엘데르와 동료들은 시장에서 일자리를 구하지만 엘데르의 상태는 점점 나빠져 숨쉬는 것마저 어렵다. 마마 판차는 젊은 엘데르를 주술의이자 은자, 광대인 막스에게 보낸다. 과연 막스는 청년의 생명을 살릴 수 있을까?
