Based on the book "UFO Crash at Roswell" by Kevin Randle and Donald Schmitt, Roswell follows the attempts of Major Jesse Marcel to discover the truth about strange debris found on a local rancher's field in July of 1947. 과대 망상증에 걸린 버팔로 빌 코디는 작가 네드 버트라인이 쓰고 연출자 네이트 세일즈베리가 끼어 맞춘 얘기로 자신의 "웨스턴 쇼"를 만들어낸다. 이 쇼에서는 백인들이 미개한 인디언들보다 우세하다는 걸 보여주면서 관객들이 자신을 존경하고 자신이 만든 상품을 구매하도록 만드는 전략을 세운다. 하지만 시팅 불이 이 쇼에 참여하면서 쇼는 거짓뿐이고 진실만이 관객을 사로잡을 수 있다고 그를 설득하려고 한다. 하지만 진실이 어떻든 간에 관객들을 기쁘게 하고 자신의 사리사욕만 채우면 다라고 생각한 버팔로 빌 코디는 이 말을 전혀 귀담아듣지 않는다. 그러던 중 인디언이라고 무시했던 시팅 불의 진면목을 보게 되면서 실망을 하게 되는데.
