1989년 여름, 라이프치히. 점점 더 많은 사람들이 동독을 떠나 서독으로 도망친다. '프릿지'의 가장 친한 친구 '소피'는 휴가를 보내기 위해 갔던 헝가리에서 돌아오지 않는다. 프릿지는 소피가 자신에게 맡겨두고 간 강아지 '스푸트니크'를 소피와 만나게 해주고 싶지만 둘 사이엔 놓인 베를린 장벽이 있다. 프릿지는 소피를 만나기 위한 모험을 시작한다.
