In 1953, the Korean War is entering the final stage. The People's Volunteer Army of China has launched the last major battle in Kumsong. In order to arrive at the battleground on time and deliver enough force to the Kumsong front line, the soldiers have to defend themselves against the never ending bombing of enemy bombers and race with time to repair bridges, all under the circumstance of supply shortages and inferior equipment. The rarely told history slowly unfolds.

제 2차 세계대전 중일전쟁 초기, 거듭된 패배로 많은 사상자를 내며 중국군이 퇴각하던 중, 제 524연대는 2만 명의 일본군으로부터 상하이를 지켜내라는 명령을 받는다. 외국인들과 부유한 중국인들이 모여 사는 조계지역 맞은편, 허름한 사행창고에 배치된 제 524연대는 우세한 전력으로 공격하는 일본군에 포기하지 않고 자폭까지 감행하며 나흘 밤낮 격전을 펼친다. 하천 너머 남의 일인 듯 구경하던 부유한 중국인과 외국인들도 이들의 투지에 감명받아 뜨겁게 응원하기 시작한다. 한편 쉽게 함락할 수 있을 줄 알았던 상하이에서 발목이 잡혀 초조해진 일본은 조계지역에 타격을 주더라도 격전지를 폭파할 계획을 세우고… 마침내 제 524연대 병사들은 창고를 나와 일본군의 무차별 총격을 피해 쑤저우 하천을 가로질러 조계지역으로 탈출해야 하는데…

인류종말의 날이 가까워왔다고 모두들 불안해하는 시기, 한 회사 사장이 물위에서도 달릴 수 있는 미래형 관광버스에 직원들을 싣고 야유회를 떠난다. 황보 감독이 주연을 맡은 주인공 남자는 방송을 통해 자기가 산 로또가 1등에 당첨된걸 알고 가슴터지는 기쁨을 맛본다. 하필 주인공 인생 최고의 날 쓰나미가 덥치고 이들이 탄 물위를 달릴 수 있는 관광버스도 쓰나미에 휩쓸려 어느 무인도에 떠밀려온다. 외부와 연결이 단절된 이곳은 이들이 살아남느냐 굶어죽느냐 생존을 위한 전쟁터이자 인류 역사를 새로 쓰는 실험장이 되어버린다. 중국의 슈퍼스타 황보의 감독 데뷔작으로 극한 상황에 놓인 인간이 살아남기 위해 무리짓고 리더를 추대하고 권력투쟁까지 벌이는 적나라한 과정을 리얼리즘과 판타지, 유머을 섞어 보여준다. 후시아오시엔 감독의 '밀레니엄 맘보', '쓰리 타임즈', '자객 섭은낭'에 출연해 한국관객에게도 사랑받는 대만 출신 여배우 서기와 EXO의 레이가 출연했다. At sunset, in Shanghai, a timid young man is trembling, having accidentally killed his friend. He goes to the police to turn himself in, but they ignore him. As night falls, the man is in despair and is drawn to the soft voice of a radio DJ, to whom he confesses, adding that he will commit suicide tomorrow at 6pm. Unaware that his confession has become a hot topic, the man wanders the streets at night in search of the girlfriend he loved in middle school. He calls the DJ to inform him that he does not intend to die, but the DJ asks him to come to the place where he promised to commit suicide. This film is part of the low-budget digital experimental film project Super City. Born in Shanghai, but raised in Urumqi, the main character is unable to adapt to life in a big city. The sound design, filled with radio noise, and the canted angles, reveal the psychology of a person trapped in the huge but closed-off city. —Jeonju Film Festival
