The story of how Bristol found its musical identity and tracing the creation of the city's most famous band. The documentary looks at the emergence of the 'Bristol Sound' in the 1980s culminating in the release of Massive Attack's first album. Narrated by actor Paul McGann - who was a part of Bristol's creative scene throughout this period - it traces the history of the scene. From the sound system culture that arrived in the city with the immigrants from the Caribbean, and how that mixed with the existing punk and new wave scene in Bristol, to hip-hop which arrived in Bristol from New York before any other city in Britain was aware of it. It explores how this clash of cultures and musical styles gave the city a musical identity which to that point it lacked, unlike other industrial cities in Britain such as Liverpool and Manchester.

넉넉하지 않은 형편에 아이 가지길 원하는 가난한 부부 톰과 애나. 어느 날 지하실에 세 들어 살던 한 남자가 마약 과다 복용으로 죽어있는 것을 발견한다. 경찰이 다녀간 후 천정에서 엄청난 돈가방을 발견하고 죽은 남자의 돈이라 의심치 않는다. 돈으로 빚도 갚고 아이도 가지고 싶었던 부부에게 돈의 진짜 주인과 돈을 훔친 자가 나타나고 시시각각 목숨에 위협을 받기 시작한다. 설상가상으로 경찰에 알리려 해도 쓴 돈을 메우지 않으면 징역형에 처하게 될 것이라 통보 받는다. 결국 톰과 애나는 꼬인 매듭을 풀기 위해 모두를 자신들의 집으로 불러모아 한곳에서 마지막 결판을 내려 하는데…

물체를 마음대로 움직일 수 있는 초능력을 가진 무버(염동력자) 닉 갠트(크리스 에반스). 수년 전, 강력한 초능력을 이용해 세계를 지배하려는 비밀조직 디비전에 의해 무버(염동력자)였던 아버지가 살해 당하자, 닉은 그들을 피해 홍콩으로 몸을 숨긴다. 어느 날, 미래를 볼 수 있는 소녀 워쳐(미래 예지자) 캐시(다코타 패닝)가 닉을 찾아오고, 디비전의 거대한 음모를 막을 수 있는 유일한 열쇠인 키라(카밀라 벨)를 찾기 위해 닉에게 도움을 청한다. 사실 키라는 상대방의 기억을 조작해 행동을 조종할 수 있는 능력의 푸셔(기억 조작자)로 디비전의 비밀실험에서 유일하게 살아남아 도망친 능력자였던 것. 한편, 키라를 쫓고 있던 디비전의 강력한 능력자 푸셔 헨리(디몬 하운스)에 의해 닉과 캐시, 키라의 존재는 곧 발각되고 만다. 스니프(추격자)를 앞세운 디비전의 위협 속에 닉과 캐시 는 쉬프터(변형 능력자), 쉐도우(보호 능력자)등 능력자들의 도움을 받아 디비전의 음모를 무너뜨리려고 하지만, 디비전의 무차별적인 공격은 더욱 거세진다. 마침내, 최후의 순간에 부딪히게 된 닉과 캐시는 피할 수 없는 대결을 펼쳐야만 하는데…
