시골 마을 라디오 DJ인 찰리는 생방송 중 한 청취자로부터 어둠의 그림자가 자신을 죽음으로 몰고 있다는 이상한 전화를 받는다. 단순한 장난 전화로 치부를 했던 찰리에게도 이 죽음의 그림자가 서서히 다가오기 시작한다. 자신이 죽을 수도 있다는 두려움에 휩싸인 찰리는 죽음의 그림자의 실체를 밝히려고 한다. 실제로 있었던 일을 바탕으로 한 는 사람들이 잠자는 사이 목숨을 앗아가는 알려지지 않은 존재에 대한 이야기이다. 얼핏 들으면 와 비슷하다고 생각하실 수 있겠지만 는 전혀 다른 류의 영화이다. Shadow People로 불리는 이 ‘죽음의 그림자’는 실제로 많은 사람들이 믿고 있는 초자연적인 현상으로 아직 과학적으로는 밝혀지지는 않고 있다. 하지만 이 작품은 나에게도 저런 일이 생길 수도 있다는 공포감을 관객들에게 심어준다. 더군다나 간간이 등장하는 실존 인물들은 관객들에게 이러한 공포감을 극대화시킨다. 비현실적인 괴물이나 귀신이 등장하는 웬만한 공포영화보다 훨씬 더 무서울 수 밖에 없다. 홍보성 멘트가 아니라 실제로 이 영화를 본 후 잠 못 드시는 분들이 꽤 많을 것이다.
