Shiwasu's mother left their home when Shiwasu was a little girl. Shiwasu does not understand why. She is a woman now and working at a Shinto shrine as a shrine maiden under her father who is a priest. She is listless until she finds a little boy alone on the shrine's grounds. The boy's mother shows up and retrieves her son a couple of days later. That is not the end of it however. The boy is back soon and has marks and bruises on his body. In the meantime, there was petty theft going on.

시모노세키에서 태어난 한국인 2세 '구'는 고등학교를 중퇴하고 별볼일 없는 인생을 상고 있다. '구'는 주변의 여러 건달, 야쿠자와도 얼굴을 트고 지내는 그런 생활을 보내는 청년이다. 그러던 어느 날, '구'는 그와 친하게 지내는 '타츠'가 김청기의 할머니를 죽여 유치장에 있다는 소식을 듣게 된다. 알고 보니 '타츠'는 그의 여자친구가 김청기에게 폭력을 당한 일을 복수하기 위해 그의 할머니를 죽이게된 것이다. 하지만 '타츠'가 이런 일을 벌이게 된 것은 '구' 자신이 언젠가 "복수는 본인이 아니라 가까운 사람한테 하는 것"이라는 말을 듣고 벌인 일이라는 것이다. 본의 아니게 죄책감을 느끼게 된 '구'는 진위 파악을 위해 나서게 된다. 그 와중에 조선학교 복싱부의 '박영오'와 척을 지게되고...

기발한 수정주의 사무라이영화. 자신의 딸과 함께 정처 없이 떠도는 칸주로가 과거 사무라이였다는 유일한 증거는 허리 춤에 달려 있는 빈 칼집 뿐이다. 칸주로는 자신과 딸의 목숨을 그의 영주로부터 구하기 위해 30일 동안 주어진 임무를 전부 완수해야 한다.
