반항기 있는 10대 소녀 샐리와 그의 가족은 영국의 작은 도시로 이사를 오게 된다. 샐리는 새로운 집이 마음에 들지 않으며, 집에서 알수 없는 이상한 일들이 발생을 하게 되는데.. 이를 부모에게 이야기를 해도 부모들은 샐리의 말을 믿지 않는다. 점점 이상한 일들이 많이 발생을 하면서 부모들에게도 일들이 벌어 지게 되면서 악령의 존재를 알게 된다. 그러나, 가족에게 이사를 하기 위하여 넉넉한 형편이 아니기에 쉽게 이사를 못하게 되고 샐리의 아버지는 귀신의 존재로 사람들에게 관광시켜 그 돈으로 이사를 갈 생각까지 하게 되는데... 샐리와 가족들은 예전 마을에서 벌어진 무서운 사건에 대한 일을 알게 되고 집안의 악령을 쫒기 위하여 영매술사, 신부등에게 요청을 하게 되는데...
