Sullivan's Applicant explores the mundane, the everyday task of commuting into a city and encountering all of the barriers and frustrations along the way. However, although the film captures this idea of 'the everyday' it also illustrates how things can happen unexpectedly, forcing us to see that things happen for a reason, and that there are silver linings to almost everything bad that comes our way. This film was part of a larger project which explored the character of the city of Montreal. Each film was to examine smaller corners of everyday life in Montreal and make those moments accessible and relatable to those who would see them.
Striking a zeitgeist nerve, Wild in the Streets stars Christopher Jones (Ryan's Daughter) as Max Frost, rock singer and poster boy for the counterculture revolution of the '60s. While performing with his band, The Troopers, at a political rally for Senate candidate Johnny Fergus (Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild), Max seizes the opportunity to spout his own political philosophies which include, among other things, that the voting age should be lowered to 14. And thus begins the tale of Max's meteoric rise. But as he moves further and further into uncharted waters, first as a voice for the youth movement (or is he just a mouthpiece for opportunist politicians?) and then as a nominee for President of the United States, Max will not bend to the will of the old guard. Instead he begins implementing his own ideas of what would make a better world, including re-education camps for those over the age of 35 along with a liberal dosing of LSD.
폭풍우가 치는 어느 밤, 범죄자 호송차량이 산길을 달리던중 마주오던 차를 피하려다 길아래로 전복되고 만다. 경찰이 출동하고, 희생자를 옮기던 그들은 죄수 둘이 없어진 것을 알게 된다. 그들은 바로 조커 잭슨(토니 커티스 분)과 노아 컬렌(시드니 포이티어 분). 흑인과 백인으로 서로 증오하는 사이이기도한 이들은 두꺼운 사슬에 손목을 같이 묶인채로 도주를 시작한다. 사나운 사냥개와 맥스 경관의 수사팀이 그들을 바짝 뒤쫓아 오고, 외딴 마을에 도착한 두 사람은 사슬을 끊을만한 도구를 찾기위해 창고로 숨어들었다가 발각되고 만다. 그러나 마을의 한 노인의 도움으로 다시 도망치고, 모자 단 둘이서 사는 산속의 인가에 도착한다. 묶어있는 사슬을 끊고, 잠시 동안이지만 그곳에서 편안한 휴식을 맞게된 두 사람. 조커는 그곳에서 만난 여인과 짧은 연민에 빠지고, 결국 그녀의 곁에 남기로 한다. 혼자서 길을 떠나게 된 노아. 그러나 조커는 그녀와의 말다툼 끝에 흥분한 그녀의 어린 아들에 의해 총상을 입고, 노아를 찾아 다시 떠난다. 부상을 당한 노아와 만난 조커. 이제 사슬로 묶여있지 않지만 두 사람은 다시 하나가 되고, 서로에 대한 미움이 조금씩 우정으로 바뀌어 감을 알게 된다. 이제 두 사람의 마지막 희망은 달리는 기차에 몸을 싣는 것이다. 달리는 기차에 간신히 올라탄 노아, 그러나 부상당한 조커는 아슬아슬하게 올라타지 못하고, 결국 노아도 그와 함께 뛰어내리는데.
