Sakura is a moody teenage girl who lives close to the US military base in the city of Yamato, Japan. She is struggling everyday to become a rapper like the American rappers she admires, but always gets stage fright when she sings in front of an audience. The Eternal Founntain was broadcast as the Saturday Drama Special on NHK. Laywer Akio Yamauchi takes over the court-appointed attorney for Yoji Kuramoto who confesses to murdering his wife. While following Kuramoto's action in Yamanaka and being sure of his innocence, Yamauchi remembers his wife who passed away 12 years earlier.

Based on a short story by Seichi Matsumoto from 1956 and remake from the 1957 movie of the same name, the story is about an actor who has the opportunity to become a success but 9 years earlier, he had killed a woman with whom he was involved and there was an eyewitness to the murder.

The piano tuner Ota is still in mourning for the loss of his beloved wife. He would like to go on, but he can’t find the beach where his wife wanted her ashes to be scattered. While helping his friend Kojima with his antique shop, Ota meets the old Kuzo, a ventriloquist with a mysterious and fascinating female puppet, Aria, and his disciple, Senju. But during a show, the old man collapses. At the hospital, he asks Ota to find a piano he sold a long time ago to a pawn shop, and dies. Ota and Senju decide to look for the piano, even if Kuzo will not be able to enjoy it anymore, as a way to carry on the master’s memory. Just before the departure, a mysterious and beautiful woman enters the antique shop, claiming to be Kuzo’s daughter. She wants to join them in the quest for the piano. The three leave in search of the long forgotten piano: they will meet a number of uncommon characters, who will guide them in a journey through the master’s past, and their memories, towards the future.

주인공 배우 타이짱은 36살에 기미에와 만난다. 하지만 그에겐 이미 여자친구인 아사코가 있다. 그래서 헤어지려 하지만 오히려 아사코는 몰래 혼인신고를 하고, 또 양녀를 들인다. 이에 질 수 없는 타이짱과 기미에는 동거를 하고 형의 아들을 양자로 들인다. 어느새 두 아이의 아버지가 된 타이짱이지만, 일로는 큰 성공을 하게 되고, 그 후 간경변, 어머니의 죽음, 자식들의 결혼 등 여러가지 일을 거쳐 70을 맞게 되는데... (한국영상자료원)

국회의원을 인질로 잡고 농성 중인 청년을 설득하려던 형사 야부이케는 ‘세계의 법칙을 회복하라’는 수수께끼 같은 쪽지를 받고 혼란에 빠진다. 잠시 망설이던 사이, 청년은 인질을 쏘고 자신도 자살한다. 이 사건으로 문책을 받은 야부이케는 무기한 휴가를 떠나게 된다. 우연히 도착한 숲에서 그는 주위의 모든 나무를 독으로 물들이는 한 그루의 나무를 발견하는데, ‘카리스마’란 이름의 이 나무를 둘러싸고 숲에서는 여러 입장들이 싸우고 있다. 나무와 숲 모두를 구하고 싶다는 생각을 한 야부이케는 이 숲의 투쟁 속에 들어가게 된다.

큰 재산 없이 노년에 접어든 야마모토는 이런저런 사고를 치면서 큰딸 노리코의 보살핌을 받으며 살고 있다. 하지만 야마모토는 딸의 앞길을 막고 싶지 않다는 생각에 실버타운에 스스로 들어가려 한다. 그런 아버지의 모습을 보는 노리코의 마음은 갈수록 불편해진다.

여느 때처럼 해결사 일을 하던 유지와 고사쿠는 자동차 사고를 낸 OL 미나코를 돕게 된다. 며칠 후, 야쿠자들의 싸움 현장에 있다가 우연히 헤로인을 손에 넣게 된 미나코가 유지에게 그 처리를 부탁한다. 8백만엔 상당의 헤로인 처리를 의뢰받은 두 사람 앞에 야쿠자 3인조와 마약상이 나타나 매입경쟁을 벌인다. 헤로인을 판 돈으로 불륜상대인 회사 상사 오카야마와 함께 여행을 떠나려던 미나코는 헤로인이 더 있음을 실토하는데, 그 총량은 자그마치 8억엔 어치에 이른다. 그렇게 많은 양의 마약을 가지고 있다가는 마약 관계자들에게 살해당할 것이라고 생각한 유지 일행은 온갖 고생을 하며 헤로인을 모두 버린다. 하지만 야쿠자 3인조가 오카야마를 납치하면서 사태는 급변한다. A continuation of the story of the postwar years in the Japanese Inland Sea. Now a decade has passed. Two friends meet and decide to look for the beautiful girl with whom they went to school as children.

All the protagonists move about in a Tokyo Bar that has an entire wall taken up with a black-and-white reproduction of a photo of Monument Valley. The action starts as Billy the Kid, in full living color, walks out of the photo and gets a job as a waiter. Along with him on the working staff are a samurai straight out of the history books, a G.I. from World War II, and several other anachronistic characters. The plot (as such) revolves around keeping away the brutal mobsters and thugs who dominate the city streets outside of the bar, making the tavern safe for its easily recognized facsimiles of well-known characters.
