But due to disputes over the script, accidents on the set, and voices accusing the makers of glorifying the war, the project was many times on the verge of being cancelled.

Emma returns home to Cornwall to her father, Ben Litton, a successful albeit rather self-centered painter. Emma is reluctant to be welcomed by her father and will leave her there for a week after her arrival. So Emma remains lonely again until Robert, the gallery owner, wins her heart.
