카밀라는 노르웨이의 외딴 마을 종합병원에서 근무하고 있는 의사. 병원이 곧 폐쇄될 운명에 놓이자 오슬로로 직장을 옮기려고 준비 중이지만 애인, 올레가 마음에 걸린다. 그러던 어느 날, 이 지역 경찰인 올레는 산속에 버려진 차가 있다는 신고를 받고 출동하고, 그곳에서 곡괭이를 들고 서 있는 여자를 발견, 병원으로 이송한다. 병원으로 이송된 야니케는, 친구들과 함께 스노보드를 타러 갔다가 산속 호텔에 사는 살인마에게 친구들이 모두 살해됐으며, 자신이 살인마를 죽여 친구들과 함께 얼음 절벽 속에 시신을 버렸다는 엽기적인 진술을 한다. 이에 진상을 확인하기 위해 산속으로 들어간 경찰은 야니케 말대로 얼음 절벽 속에서 다섯 구의 시신을 발견하고 병원으로 이송한다. 하지만 죽은 줄 알았던 살인마의 심장이 다시 뛰기 시작하자, 의사들은 놈을 살려내는데...

Marianne visits her dying father in the hospital who tells of a box of old letters that she must promise to destroy. Marianne chooses to do the opposite, and reads them instead. There she finds shocking accusations against her father, who allegedly murdered a young woman 25 years ago.
