뉴욕의 명문 발레 학교에서 떠오르는 스타였던 디디는 극단내에서 만난 동료 댄서와의 관계로 임신을 하고. 결혼한 뒤 학교를 떠나 오클라호마에서 발레 학교를 직접 운영하면서 동시에 세 아이의 엄마로서 소임을 다한다. 반면 디디와 함께 발레 학교의 유망주였던 엠마는 오직 발레에만 전념한 끝에 최고의 프리마돈나 자리를 거머쥔다.춤에 뛰어난 소질을 보이고 있는 디디의 16살 난 딸 에밀리아는 발레 학교로부터 입학 허가를 받지만. 12살 난 아들은 춤과 야구사이에서 아직 결정을 갈등하는 중이다. 결국 디디는 여름 방학동안 아이들을 데리고 뉴욕으로 가 댄스 교습을 받기로 한다. 발레 학교에서 실력을 인정 받아 여름 공연에서 중요한 역을 맡게 된 아멜리아는 러시아에서 건너 온 유명한 발레리나인 유리와 사랑에 빠지지만. 그가 다른 발레리나와 키스하는 장면을 목격한 뒤 상처받는다. 한편 엠마는 자신이 점점 젊은 발레리나들에게 밀리고 있다는 사실 때문에 불안한데다가. 사귀고 있던 유부남이 자신에게 냉담해 진것을 알아차리게 된다.

라이오넬 트웨인(트루먼 카포테)이라는 정체모를 부자가 '만찬 및 살인 초대'라는 초청장을 세계에서 가장 유명한 탐정가 5명에게 보낸다. 눈먼 장님 집사 제임서 벤슨멈(알렉 기네스)에게 그걸 우체통에 넣으라고 시키지만 장님인 집사는 우표를 죄다 엉뚱한 곳에 붙이고 초청장을 보낸다. 그리하여 5명의 명탐정과 아내, 아들. 이렇게 여러 사람들이 트웨인의 집으로 온다. 오면서 우표도 없는 초청장을 보내는 통에 그 우편요금을 내가 내야했다고 투덜거리면서(...) 각자 오는데 을씨년스런 이 저택은 별 골때리는 장치가 되어있다. 물론 사람죽이는 건 아니고 오래된 집을 연기하고자 초인종 소리가 여자 비명소리라든지, 집 곳곳에 인조 거미줄이 쳐있다든지 탐정들은 어이없어 하면서 당사자 트웨인을 만나려 들지만 장님인 벤슨멈 집사는 주인은 안계신다고 한다. 그리고 녹음된 트웨인의 목소리로 이 집에서 누군가가 죽을테니 이 사건을 해결하는 탐정에게는 거액의 보상금을 준다고 하는 메시지가 담겨져 있었다. 그리고 정말 누군가가 죽고 이들 탐정들의 사건 수사가 시작되는데...

2012년 뉴욕은 질병으로 식량공급원은 고갈되고 기아와 죽음만이 몰려온다. 간트(Carson: 율 브린너 분)는 생존을 위해서는 싸워야만 했다. 무법과 적자생존의 원칙만 존재하고 강자들만이 군림하였다. 그러한 혼란의 세계 속에서 배론(Baron: 막스 본 시도우 분)은 군중들을 설득하기 위해 노력한다. 배론은 인류를 식량부족에서 구하기 위해 질병에 대한 식량개발을 위해 노력한다. 마침내 씨앗을 개발하고 실험재배를 하는데 굶주린 군중들이 씨앗을 빼앗을려고 습격한다. 가트는 이를 보호하기 위해 필사의 투쟁을 벌인다.

A Jewish man and a jewish woman meet and while attracted to each other find that their worlds are very different. She is the archetypical Jewish-American-Princess, very emotionally involved with her parents world and the world they have created for her while he is much less dependent on his family. They begin an affair which brings more differences to the surface.
Various short stories. Giovanna arrives from Rome with her husband Alberto for a film audition. The journalist Gino comes to interview the great industrial Signore Carsoli. The famous American actress Rita is in search of her umpteenth husband. Leopoldo and Angelina from Sicily are on vacation in Rome where they meet the street smart Nicola.
