스스로를 대도시의 터프한 악동이라 여기는 13살 소녀 아멜리에는 실제로 베를린에서 가장 고집 센 아이이다. 어느 누구의 말도 듣지 않는 아멜리에게 천식 발작 이후 산 속 치료시설로 보내려는 부모님의 말이 귀에 들릴 리 없다. 시설로 가는 건 바로 아멜리에가 가장 원치 않는 일이기 때문이다. 그래서 아멜리에는 진료소에 입원하는 대신 아무도 자신을 찾을 수 없게 산 정상으로 도망쳐 숨는다. 하지만 이내 치료시설과 부모님 모두 아멜리에가 도망갔다는 사실을 알게 되고, 소녀를 찾는 대대적인 수색작업이 시작된다. 한편 산 속에 들어가 숨을 곳을 찾던 아멜리에는 바트라는 이름의 별난 소년을 만나게 된다. 그리고 바트가 자신의 목숨을 구해준 순간, 아멜리에는 바트가 첫인상에서 느꼈던 것보다 훨씬 멋진 소년이라는 것을 깨닫는다. 아멜리에가 아프다는 알게 된 바트는 아멜리에에게 일 년에 한 번 있는 오래된 전통 의식인 ‘알프스 파이어’에 대해 이야기해준다. 알프스 파이어는 사람이든 동물이든 병을 치료하는 데 도움이 된다고 알려져 있는 기적 같은 의식이다. 이제 시간에 맞춰 불을 피우기 위해 아멜리에와 바트는 희망과 진정한 우정의 모험을 시작한다. Eleven-year-old Linh shows great grace under pressure. When her mother, who’s raising her kids on her own, has to return unexpectedly to Vietnam, Linh looks after her little sister Tien and the family restaurant on her own. Of course, no one is supposed to find out, not the school, not the neighbours, and definitely not child protective services. But Linh’s biggest problem has red hair, a telescope and a sly grin: Pauline. The daredevil from across the street has the whole neighbourhood under surveillance and can’t imagine anything cooler than a life without parents. When Pauline blackmails the Vietnamese sisters into starting a gang with her, the three girls set off on a daring adventure.
It is a Saturday in autumn, and Karin and Simon are visiting their parents and youngest sister Clara. This family gathering provides the occasion for a dinner together, at which other relatives appear over the course of the day. While the family members animate the apartment’s space with their conversations, everyday activities and cooking preparations, the cat and dog range through the various rooms. they too become a central element in this quotidian familial dance that repeatedly manifests stylized elements, disrupting any naturalistic mode of presentation. In this way, adjoining spaces open up between family drama, fairy tale and the psychological study of a mother.
어린 시절, 영원한 우정을 맹세했던 한나와 클라리사. 매년 여름마다 가족 휴가를 외딴 섬에서 함께 보냈던 두 친구는 아홉 번째 생일 직후 갑자기 소식이 끊겨버렸다. 이제 30대 중반이 되어 의사가 된 한나는 수면제 과다 복용으로 응급실에 실려온 클라리사를 우연히 만난다. 한나와 클라리사는 오랜만에 우정을 되새길 겸 예전의 그 섬으로 여행을 떠나기로 하고, 한나의 딸 레아와 함께 셋이서 들뜬 마음으로 섬에 도착한다. 그러나 섬에 가면서부터 한나 앞에 한 소녀의 모습이 자꾸 나타나기 시작하자, 한나는 숲 속 깊은 동굴에 얽힌 무서운 전설을 기억해낸다. 어릴 적 친구였던 마리아가 25년 전 실종되었다는 사실을 알게 되면서 한나는 과거를 기억해내려고 애쓰지만, 잊혀진 퍼즐 조각을 맞추어 갈수록 오싹한 기운이 섬 전체를 뒤덮기 시작한다. 상상을 초월한 섬뜩한 진실이 윤곽을 드러내기 시작하면서 한나와 클라리사, 레아에게는 벗어날 수 없는 공포와 위협이 서서히 다가오는데…
