The first days of 2020's lockdown seem to drag forever for a group of tourists trapped in a Thai hotel. In strict confinement and as the big day of an unexpected event approaches, emotional entanglements, tensions and long kept secrets rise to the surface.

(2018년 제23회 부산국제영화제) 격변기 중국의 인물과 공간을 담은 작품. 영화는 중국 전역을 다니면서 공간의 한순간을 잠시 주목한다. 광산촌, 어촌, 도시 공장, 건설 현장, 농촌, 학교, 병원 등의 다양한 공간에서 광부, 노동자, 어부, 농부, 병자, 학생 등 다양한 인물을 포착한다. 영화는 개발이 대성황을 이루던 때 그 이면 속 인물과 공간을 가만히 비춘다. 그러다 공간 속 인물 중 한 명과 조용히 눈을 마주치며 무언의 교감을 시도한다. 때로는 그가 감독 자신이기도 하다. 마치 아우구스투 잔더의 사진처럼, 영화는 사진의 정적인 리듬과 영화의 동적인 리듬을 감각적으로 품으면서 공간의 사람들, 특히 서민들을 담아낸다. 영화는 공간 속 인물을 파편적인 조각들로 수집해 중국 사회의 단면을 총체적으로 보여준다. 조각을 맞추다 보면, 그 조각들이 모여 동시대 중국 사회 그 자체로 마주하게 한다. 국내에서는 로 유명한 왕샤오슈아이 감독의 최신작이다. 은 강한 내러티브를 벗어나 영화와 사진과 미술 영상의 경계를 가로지른다. Lao Yang is not "a good father" in Chinese traditional way although he's already in his 60s. His wealth has been through ups and downs ferociously. His business went bankrupt years ago. Luckily, his three children are all grown up and have their own family. Lao Yang spends his days between taking care of his bedridden wife, keeping a mistress, collecting debts and gambling with mahjong. Conflicts between Lao Yang and his children escalate.

A boy living with his grandmother in the mountains refuses to migrate in the new village. Everyday he prowls the cornfields and waits for his mother to come back.

"Love at first sight" tells the story of four rounds of small busy at work when they grow up, negligence contact. Suddenly one day, the other three received another invitation to them to attend the wedding of Lijiang, so the three brothers embark on a journey to Lijiang. Three brothers launched a three-stage journey legendary comedy or a romantic adventure or love, unknowingly have a new perception of life.

중국 공산당을 돕는 일본인 오자키 호츠미는 상해 ‘만철’에 있는 또 다른 스파이 나카니시 마사히로에게 일본군 진주만 기습의 사전 정보가 담긴 필름을 보낸다. 이 필름을 둘러싸고 일본 특수 경찰인 후지키는 중국 공산당과 국민당의 스파이인 환연과 안명을 쫓기 시작한다 안명은 필름을 찾는 도중 환연의 정체를 알게 되고 환연은 안명을 대신해 희생을 감수하는데...
