18세기 영국. 아서 블레이크는 내일이면 단두대에서 머리가 잘릴 처지다. 죄명은 시체도굴 및 밀매. 사형 전날 밤 블레이크를 찾은 더피 신부는 죽기 전 죄를 모두 털어놓을 것을 부탁하고, 망설이던 블레이크는 동료 윌리와 겪은 파란만장한 시체 도굴 이야기, 살아있는 시체를 둘러싼 모험담을 펼쳐놓는다.
