금영은 어느날 자기집 뒷골목에서 일어나는 살인 현장을 목격하게 된다. 그러던 중 살인자들에게 적발이 되어 쫓기는 신세가 되고 만다. 어느날 그는 경찰인 진산과 만나게 되고 그와 함께 그 살인 사건을 해결하려고 사건에 휘말린다. 그러던 어느날 금영을 추적해 죽이려는 살인자 중 한 사람과 격투 끝에 체포하게 된다. 그러나 살인자는 보석금과 증거불충분으로 풀려나게 되자 금영와 진산은 더 많은 위협이 뒤따름을 느낀다. 어느날 살인자들부터 탈출한 여인으로부터 그들은 국제적 인신매매업들이라는 더 큰 조직을 갖고 있다는 사실을 알게 된다. 그래서 그들은 죽음을 각오하고 인신매매범들을 집요하고 끈질기게 추적하게 되고 결국 그들과 쫓고 쫓기는 격투끝에 살인자들을 소탕하게 되는데...

사랑하는 사이인 유이와 메이는 고향인 만주를 그리워하며 소련에서 살고 있다. 우연히 일본 비밀집단 팔백용이 살인하는 장면을 목격한 유이는 살해의 위협을 받고, 팔백용의 보스는 조직을 보호하기 위해 그를 납치한다. 심한 충격으로 기억 상실증에 걸린 유이는 제일의 킬러로 훈련을 받은 후 암호명 자유인으로 홍콩에 온다. 한편 유이를 찾아 홍콩에 온 메이는 팔백용의 다음 목표가 된다. 자유인은 메이를 구출하지만, 그녀를 알아보지 못한다. 이 때 메이와 찍은 사진을 발견한 자유인은 기억을 찾기 위해 메이를 보호해준다. 조직을 떠나 만주로 떠나려던 자유인은 그를 막는 보스와 일본에서의 불꽃튀는 혈전 끝에 메이를 구하지만 끝내 기억을 되찾지는 못한다. 그러나 자유인 유이는 가슴깊이 사랑하는 메이와 함께 그들의 고향, 참된 자유의 삶을 찾아 길을 떠나는데...
