90년대 중반, 독일. 터키 출신의 학생 아슬리와 전쟁을 피해 독일로 온 레바논 출신의 카리스마 넘치는 사이드는 파티에서 만나 첫눈에 반해 사랑에 빠진다. 두 연인은 아슬리 어머니의 반대를 무릅쓰고 결혼을 한다. 그들의 험난한 사랑은 아름답게 해피엔딩을 맞는 것 같다. 여기까지 영화는 고전적인 사랑 이야기의 형식을 따른다. 하지만 이후, 전개되는 이야기는 완전히 다른 양상을 보인다. 아슬리는 결혼 후 점점 이슬람 극단주의에 경도되는 사이드와 갈등을 빚기 시작하고 사이드는 어느 날 홀연히 사라진다.
After a run in with the Law, Aylin a 17yr old muslim Girl part of the Turkish diaspora in Germany finds herself sentenced to community service at an out of town horse stable. Beset by trouble at home and school, it is here that she, despite all odds is set on the road to self-discovery. As the pace quickens her blossoming relationship with the Stallion Hördur and her fledgling dreams are tested to breaking point. Can Aylin build a bridge between worlds?
