London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony: Isles of Wonder
Self
The London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony took place at 9pm on 27 July 2012. Titled 'Isles of Wonder', the Ceremony welcomed the finest athletes from more than 200 nations for the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, marking an historic third time the capital has hosted the world’s biggest and most important sporting event. The Opening Ceremony reflected the key themes and priorities of the London 2012 Games, based on sport, inspiration, youth and urban transformation. It was a Ceremony 'for everyone' and celebrated contributions the UK has made to the world through innovation and revolution, as well as the creativity and exuberance of British people.
Arctic Monkeys - Rock en Seine
Himself
Arctic Monkeys produced a cracking headline set to conclude the second day of Rock en Seine 2011. Sheffield's finest were in thoroughbred fettle throughout their 90-minute set, taking a less exuberant, yet no less effective, route than the Foo Fighters into the hearts and minds of the soggy Parisian crowd.

Over the course of four albums, one EP, one side project with Miles Kane and an EP of songs from the film Submarine, Alex Turner has cemented his position as one of the best lyricists and songwriters Britain has ever produced. From the flinty-eyed observations of errant behaviour on their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, to the more elemental prophecies of this year’s Suck It And See, his voice remains a sharp tool, ready to dissect anything, from a bad night out to the melancholy effects of the aging process.

Arctic Monkeys: Live at Glastonbury 2007
Himself
The Arctic Monkeys don't do ad-libbing, they don't do crowd interaction, and they don't do encores. A lot of people don't like them as a live act for this very reason, but if there are any disappointed punters in the crowd tonight, then they're keeping quiet. It takes a certain kind of band to move every member of the audience at the main stage; but everyone from the front row all the way back to the tents is on their feet, delighted and singing in anticipation, even before the Monkeys begin.

It's four years since the Sheffield four-piece made their historic appearance on the Main Stage as the first ever Friday night T In The Park headliners. Despite the charts seemingly falling out of love with indie bands in recent years, their latest album "Suck It And See" knocked Lady Gaga off the top spot, no less. The band's return to Balado is a perfect way to cement that success in front of the legendary warmth of the Main Stage crowd.
