우주 한복판에 '청춘의 샘'이라 불리는 행성이 있다. 그곳은 자연과 테크놀로지가 공존하고 있으며, 소수의 원주민 바쿠족이 평화롭게 모여 사는 아름다운 곳이다. 그러나 이 곳에 고요한 평화를 깨는 불청객이 나타나다. 악당 루이포가 이끄는 연방정부는 이 행성의 청춘 에너지를 이용하기 위해 원주민들을 강제로 이주시키려하고, 소나라고 불리는 집단과 모종의 거래를 해왔던 것이다. 한편 데이타 요원은 측량업무 도중에 이 행성을 발견하게 되고, 모든 사실을 승무원들에게 알리지만 엔터프라이즈호는 연방정부가 저지른 이 일련의 사건들을 그냥 묵과하기로 한다. 그러나 선량한 행성 원주민들이 괴로워하는 것을 본 캡틴 피카드는 양심의 가책을 받고 갈등에 빠지고, 해결책을 모색한다. 고민 끝에 피카소가 내린 결론은 '그냥 이대로 보고만 있을 수는 없다'는 것. 결국 현명하고 침착한 리더 피카드는 상부의 명령을 어기고 소나와 연방정부에 반대하기로 한다. 그리고 이들에 맞선 엔터프라이즈호의 대반격이 시작되는데.

백만장자이자 상당히 많은 책을 읽는 독서가 찰스 모어스(Charles Morse: 안소니 홉킨스 분)와 모델인 그의 아내 미키(Mickey Morse: 엘레 맥퍼슨 분), 사진작가 밥 그린(Robert Green: 알렉 볼드윈 분)이 미키의 사진 촬영으로 함께 알래스카 여행길에 오른다. 찰스는 마음에 젊고 건강한 사진작가 밥에게 미키와의 관계나 자신의 재산, 생명에 있어서 마음 속에 위협을 느낀다. 그러던 중 찰스는 밥에게 알래스카 인디언 사진 촬영에 동행 제의를 받고 함께 경비행기로 떠나게 되는데, 비행 중 철새떼를 만나 찰스와 밥이 알 수 없는 산 중에 추락하게 된다. 추위와 배고픔으로 고생하던 중 식인곰이 사는 산에서 찰스 일행은 곰에게 생명의 위협을 받고 함께 싸운다. 찰스가 위험에 처하자 밥이 그를 구해주고 이로 인해 찰스는 자신이 밥에게 가졌던 감정을 지우게 되지만, 아무도 없는 산장을 발견하자 밥은 찰스에게 총을 겨눈다.

어렸을 때부터 친한 친구인 로미(미라 소르비노 분)와 미셀(리사 쿠드로 분)은 고교 졸업 후에도 같은 방을 쓰며 자유롭고 편안하게 살아가고 있다. 그녀들은 함께 놀러다니고 영화도 보고 나이트 클럽에도 같이 간다. 그러면서 "귀여운 여인" 같은 신데렐라를 꿈꾸며 멋진 남자를 상상한다.

The Bower Family Band petitions the Democratic National Committee to sing a Grover Cleveland rally song at the 1888 convention, but decide instead to move to the Dakota territory on the urging of a suitor to their eldest daughter. There, Grampa Bower causes trouble with his pro-Cleveland ideas, as Dakota residents are overwhelmingly Republican, and hope to get the territory admitted as two states (North and South Dakota) rather than one in order to send four Republican senators to Washington. Cleveland opposed this plan, refusing to refer to Congress the plan to organize the Dakotas this way. When Cleveland wins the popular vote, but Harrison the presidency due to the electoral college votes, the Dakotans (particularly the feuding young couple) resolve to live together in peace, and Cleveland grants statehood to the two Dakotas before he leaves office (along with two Democrat-voting states, evening the gains for both parties).
