RAIN is a 23-minute original independent short fan film created by Maya Glick, directed by Zane Rutledge and Jeff Stolhand, and produced by Matt Joyce. Inspired by the "punk" incarnation of the Marvel superhero Storm of the X-Men. Influenced by the more dystopian stories of the X-Men franchise as well as the seminal comic LifeDeath by Chris Claremont and Barry Windsor-Smith, this original story takes a broken mutant hero "Rain" from the lowest depths of despair into the darker recesses of her own shattered memory. If she is to survive, she must discover a new identity and somehow rediscover her lost power.

서부의 무법자 클로드 바비와 일행은 마지막 한탕을 위해 기차에서 약탈한 금을 되찾으러 길을 떠난다. 하지만 불가사의하게도 아침이 오면 일행은 한 명씩 살해된 채로 발견되고, 어렴풋이 들려오는 종소리와 함께 정체를 알 수 없는 존재가 그들의 뒤를 쫓는다. 한편, 보안관들에게도 추적당하고 있는 바비 일행은 어느 누구도 믿을 수 없는 상황에 직면한다.

“촬영 기사 구함. 일당 천 달러. 자유재량권 보장.” 수상한 구인광고를 본 애론은 쉽게 돈을 벌 수 있겠다는 생각에 광고를 낸 조셉을 만나러 외딴 산골 마을로 떠난다. 그곳에서 조셉의 품성과 그가 구상한 프로젝트의 진정성을 느끼며 촬영을 시작하게 된 애론. 하지만 작업이 진행될수록, 믿었던 조셉이 점점 이상한 행동을 보이기 시작 하는데... 과 같은 저예산의 미국 장르 영화들을 마주하다 보면, 할리우드의 진정한 저력이란 결국 패트릭 브라이스 같은 독립 영화 감독들에게서 나오는 것이라는 생각을 지울 수가 없다. 이 영화 역시 화려한 특수 효과나 특별한 스타 없이도 관객들을 충분히 사로잡고도 남는다. 세심하면서 군더더기 없는 깔끔한 연출과 우스꽝스러울 정도로 현실적이고 공감 가는 캐릭터들이 보는 이로 하여금 눈을 뗄 수 없게 만드는 것이다. 이토록 재능 있는 감독과 배우의 끊임없는 등장은 미국의 영화 환경이 부러울 수 밖에 없는 이유이다
