고대 이집트에서 신으로 숭배받았던 최초의 돌연변이 아포칼립스가 오랜 잠에서 깨어난다. 초능력을 흡수해가며 수천년을 살아온 아포칼립스는 스톰, 사일록, 아크엔젤 그리고 매그니토에게 자신의 힘을 나누어준 뒤, 그들과 함께 현재의 세상을 뒤엎고 새로운 세상을 건설하려 한다. 찰스 자비에와 미스틱은 아포칼립스의 지구 종말 계획을 알아채고, 진 그레이, 사이클롭스, 퀵 실버, 나이트크롤러 등 젊은 돌연변이들과 함께 아포칼립스에 대항한다.

주인공의 형은 군대에서 실종되었다. 꽤 오랜 시간이 흐른 뒤 주인공은 우연히 형을 만나게 된다. 죽은 형이 살아있는 상황....그러나 형에겐 무언가 비밀이 있고, 어찌나 고문을 당했던지 형의 몸은 아주 만신창이가 되어있다. 동생은 영문도 모른 채 너무나 급박한 형을 따른다. 총을 들고 한 오두막 집을 쳐들어가 둘이서 사람들을 인질로 잡고 난동을 피운다. 하지만 확실한 것은 이들은 형과 관계가 깊다는 것. 알고 보니 이곳엔 신비한 돌이 있는데 그것은 나찌 히틀러의 관심이었던 영생의 돌. 히틀러는 아주 오래 전 그 돌에 관한 연구를 하기 위해 한 학자를 보냈었던 것. 그러나 그 학자는 돌의 비밀을 자신에게 적용해 영생을 얻고 악마가 되어 살아있던 것이었다. 그리고 그 가족들은 그 학자를 봉인하기 위해 그 오두막집에서 피의 제사를 드리며 그를 봉인해왔던 것이다. 그리고 그 제물 중 하나가 형이었던 것. 잠시 후 그 악마가 봉인에서 풀려나게 되는데...
