Murti (Sally Marcelina), the daughter of bankrupt farmer Murdali (Wenda Wijaya), is offered up as a bride to relieve a family debt owed to loan shark Juragan Hamid (Mawardi Harland). Before the forced marriage occurs, Murti and her boyfriend Yusman (Johan Saimima) run off and marry one another is a mystic ceremony witnessed by the spirit of the dwarf shaman Mbah Jagaraga (El Koesno). After becoming married to the man she hates, Murti learns that Juragan Hamid is a fugitive convict so he kills her to secure his secret. Murti’s death disturbs another spirit and the two of them return as ghosts to haunt the village.

Sari
Orphan Sari goes to live with her uncle Mr. Padmo, his wife and their daughter Yuni. Trouble begins when the wife and daughter (who is jealous a boy she likes prefers her cousin) accuse her of stealing and threaten to kick her out. The innocent Sari's parents return as ghosts to help her out, including creating a "pocong" (death shroud) ghost to scare them.
Sonya, a demonic fighter who has many magical skills, has defeated many martial arts experts and raped many women. He even murders his own eldest child to fulfill his promise to his teacher. Then he ambushes the princess of Adipati Jepara and takes her hostage to a haunted place.
A follow-up to Nenek Lampir ("The Possessed Grandmother"). Rusimini is possessed by the spirit of her baby that she abandoned after birth and finally dies a tragic death. Her "imperfect" death (without peace) is used by the devil to wreak havoc. People are influenced to commit sin and then murdered, as if that is the only way for a "perfect" death to be achieved. To stop the wave of evil, Kyai Abdullah, a religious teacher, arrives to drive away and placate the evil spirits with peace.

After her husband passes away, Dameria is forced to give up her daughter, Sari, to be adopted by her aunt, the spinster/lawyer, Purwanti. Dameria remarries to Zainal and lives a good life. Later, she yearns for Sari who is now a grown up. Sari knows about her intention. Dameria visits her at school, takes her for walks and lunches. Ten years later, when Purwanti is overseas for business, Sari leaves for Medan to meet her biological mother. When she returns, Purwanti goes straight to Medan. A confrontation ensues but Purwanti lets Sari decide. The girl eventually chooses to stay with her biological mother. But as time goes by, Sari feels uncomfortable with the new atmosphere and finally returns to her aunt’s home.
Benny runs away from home and takes his father’s fortune, in retaliation for his father remarrying, and neglecting his first wife until she dies. He buys a villa in the village and befriends a pair of siblings who has also run away from their family for the sake of freedom. They live from stealing and blackmailing. Then there is Iis and Lydia, recent graduates from high school. Iis succeeds on becoming a singer while Lydia, who is about to be married off by her father to relieve debt, chooses to become a nightclub singer. Benny falls in love with Lydia. He stalks Lydia who is about to elope with her boyfriend. When the boyfriend is murdered and Lydia loses her eyesight, Benny redeems himself by helping Lydia with her treatment. He marries her even though Lydia is blind. After she is sure of her husband’s kindness, she agrees to have her eyes treated.
Edo and Ipah study in the same art college. Both are attracted to each other and the relationship is pure yet Ipah’s father does not approve. One day, Edo’s father who works in the railway service dies in an accident. Both Edo and Ipah must condemn with the decision that tested their relationships.
Surya, a retired ship captain and a widower with five children, has trouble with disciplining his kids. So he invites a private teacher to educate and guide his children. Several teachers try and fail. Eventually, a young teacher, Utari, is able to conquer them slowly. One day the children disturb Surya’s future wife. She suspects that Utari is behind it all, so she is fired. Utari goes home, heartbroken. The children are gloomy and the youngest one gets sick. Surya approaches the teacher to work again for them. Utari refuses. Only when the children approach her does she relent and return to Surya’s house.
The film tells the story of Fitria, the symbol of Indonesian women who are beautiful, subtle, humble, simple and very flexible in all respects. She always obeys her parents and her husband... and this is where all the problems arise as Fitria finds herself being maddened by what society expects her to be.
