래리는 강인하고 흥분을 잘하는 광적인 젊은이다. 그는 사기꾼 친구 데크와 함께 초호화 경주용차를 조립하기 위해 수퍼마켓 주인으로부터 15만불을 강탈할 계획을 세운다. 데크는 슈퍼 마켓 주인의 부인과 딸을 볼모로 하고 래리는 돈을 챙긴다. 돈을 빼앗고 슈퍼마켓을 나온 래리는 최근에 같이 밤을 보냈던 방탕한 여인 매리를 만난다. 그들은 래리의 고성능 88년식 트레일러를 타고 데크와 함께 주차지역을 탈출한다. 이때 순회 중이던 순찰차가 슈퍼마켓의 강도사건을 보고받고 이들을 추적하지만 놓치고 만다. 한편 보안관 업무를 맡고있는 경위 프랭크린은 이 강도사건을 보고 받는다. 그는 휴무중인 순찰차와 헬기까지 동원하여 숨막히는 맹추격을 벌이는데...
