Oba
This drama depicts a boy's coming of age against the backdrop of Okinawa's food culture. Director Nakamura Ryugo was born in 1996. He made this film, his feature debut, when he was just fourteen years old. Okinawa has an old tradition of eating a goat for celebratory occasions. But that culture is starting to fade in urban areas. Yuto (Uehara Soji), a sixth grader living in Naha, spends his winter vacation in the countryside town where his grandparents reside. He receives a shock when he sees the goat raised by his grandfather killed by locals.
Gozei
Yuriko (Yuki Shibamoto) is tired of her relationship with a married man. She leaves Tokyo and goes back to her hometown of Yugafu, which is located on small island in Okinawa. The married man though follows Yuriko to the small island. In addition, the married man's wife also arrives on the island. They married couple causes all kinds of disturbances...
Misaki visits her boyfriend Koichi in Okinawa, the southern island of Japan. To welcome the arrival of Misaki, Koichi's friend Jinsei holds a welcoming party at his house. At the party, Misaki learns from the wise granny about the legend behind the bag hanging from the fig tree and the local demon: Kijimuna, which deeply fascinate Misaki. Jinsei then introduces Misaki to a young female writer, Kagemi, who tells Misaki the darker side of the Kijimuna legend. As the local shaman and medium to the other world, Kagemi’s knowledge in local lore gives Misaki much more to wonder about. The quiet life in Okinawa takes a sharp turn with the arrival of Jinsei’s ex-wife Sanae, which leads to a tragic accident. Soon, the parties involved begin to see a vengeful spirit and their peaceful lifes turn into a nightmare.
Makoto Kinjo
Seikichi, makes his living fishing from a small boat off the coast of Okinawa. He and his 12-year-old grandson Akira live in a small, tree-lined village in the northern part of the island which is surrounded by a white-sand beach and plots of pine and flowering bushes. On the cliff that skirts the shore sits an open-air burial ground containing the skull of a kamikaze pilot who was shot down during the last days of World War II. When the wind blows through the bullet hole in the skull, it produces a whistling sound. The locals call it the "Crying Head."
시노하라 테츠오 감독이 다음 세대를 노리는 유망한 젊은 배우 7명을 모아서 만든 마음이 따뜻해 지는 청춘드라마. 본작품으로 데뷰하여 시노하라 감독의 차기작인 에도 출연하는 가오리 리나의 매력과 에서 열연한 나리미야 등의 연기가 눈에 띈다. 도회지로부터 온 유약한 젊은이들이 오키나와의 대자연과 섬 사람들의 온정을 만나면서 성장해 가는 모습을 그리고 있다.
Grocer
호텔 하이비스커스(hibiscus)는 1박 4천 엔을 받는 곳으로, 말괄량이 초등학생 미에코와 미모의 엄마, 당구를 잘 치는 아빠, 흑인 혼혈의 켄지, 백인 혼혈의 사치코, 그리고 담배 피는 아줌마 등이 이 호텔의 가족이다.
Shaman Tsuru
도시 생활에 찌든 나나코는 소꿉친구 겐지의 배를 타고 고향에 돌아오던 중 흰 양복의 노인 산라를 신기한 듯 바라본다. 나나코를 마중나온 할머니 나비와 할아버지 에타쓰, 어떤 인연인지 나비 집에 머물게 된 후쿠노스케. 어느 날부턴가 조금은 수상한 할머니 나비는 산라가 남긴 "60년 전 약속을 지키려고 왔다"라는 말을 의미심장하게 되새긴다. (2011년 씨너스이채 일본영화정기무료상영회)
